Thanks guys , have placed a request with Skodateile . Will update teh response .

A simple headlight bulb is most certainly not an OEM part, xenon or not.

Just walk into any parts store and ask for a 4300K D1S. If they don't have it, they can order in for you. You might want to consider changing both bulbs though, since the color temperature changes slightly with age. A new 4300K won't look identical to an old one. If you want to save money, do one first and see what it looks like.

That's a great site for Skoda OEM Parts, have personally had great experience with them. Keep this thread posted on how things go and all the best.

Apparently thats the hardest part . I have tried almost the whole delhi , but i get either fake or used . Best part is , moment you say Xenon/projector, they automatically start suggesting you H1, H3 etc , very rare are aware of terms like D1S or D2S . Even philips india has to order it from germany ( TAT a month :wall: )

H1, H3 etc are halogen bulbs that have nothing to do with xenon. There are "Xenon H1 bulbs" etc as well, but these are conversion kits made to retrofit xenon into a lamp made for halogen.

A proper, ECE approved, factory made xenon light will have D1S or D2S, maybe D2R or even less commonly D3S and D4S. I guess ECE approval doesn't matter much in India though. :)

I have a feeling that xenon isn't as common in normal cars in India (the land of the Tata Nano, after all) but have you tried asking at a high-end car dealership? Audi, Mercedes, BMW etc.

Can't you order from eBay, btw? Problems with customs, etc?

In India other manufacturers don't sell you parts ... The showroom and workshop concept is different here .. So the best bet would obviously be only the skoda workshop ..

- p.s - the nano is not half as bad for the price ... It's a nice little potter for around town

We have a tendency of owning cars which are not manufactured locally , so name a brand and you will find it here , people are ready to pay double the money in duties to have ferraris , RR and what not .

Cars which have it OEM are luxury class and A.S.S would charge a bomb even to look at it . They may tell you to change whole assembly for no reason . I prefer sourcing parts on my own and save almost 70% as compared to A.S.S . Skoda India anyway has bad reputation when it comes to aftersales .
