mr vrs is currently 1200miles, is there anything i need to maintain / check apart from the oil levelas most other serivce items will flash up on the dash.?

Just check the oil when the car is cold and on the flat once a week. It probably won't use any, but just in case it does. Other than just do the normal checks (tyre pressures, brake fluid/coolant level) from time to time.

you will proberbly need to top up the oil at some point during the next few 000. I had to do this a couple of times, but since about 5k miles it has not needed any topping up.

Make sure you use the correct oil for topping up, and prepare to be surprised at the price if your car is set for variable service intervals.
