Had a chance to prove the in gear speeds last night

Featured Replies

I've read all the blurb that quotes fantastic in gear speeds for the Fabia but last night I got to prove it to myself.

I'd been towing along at a steady speed and occasionally swapping places with a BMW 328i for a while.

We got to the roundabout and then slip road to join the motorway, we'd both carried some speed around the junction (about 30mph) and I think he thought he'd have the run on me down the slip but he ended up holding me up. I eased off at the bottom cause traffic was a bit heavy and the nearside lane was busy.

You could tell he wasn't too happy cause to try and prove a point he rocketed off to what must have been well over 100mph, I set the Cruise and carried on as normal. He must have eased off and I eventually caught him up a way down the road.

You just get that feeling when you've surprised someone don't you :D

yup, i do but i don't normally give em a chance. not that kind myself

maybe he wasn't actually trying and thought you were just being an **** haseling him so he thought he'd show you what in gear acceleration is really like. now i have never driven either a fabia vRS or a 328i but just a possibility of what really happened
