Dunno where my original thread has gone so I started another lol

Got the car way back in 07 like this

Bout 6 months ago I decided to do a full resto and engine conversion to a later 2.0 16v abf out of the mk3 Gti 16v in my opinion still the best na engine that vw have ever made.

Stripped the car down to a bare shell and removed the worst of the underseal, shell is now getting media blasted and dipped to galvanise the metal then I can start repairing and prepping for paint. In the meantime I had a guy called Shakey off edition 38 and his company studio incar to build me an engine.

Pics paint a thousand words so here they are

nice, just seen this thread! I can safely say you will like the 16v when fitted, i have a mk2 with a 2ltr 16v also, on bike carbs, and its brutal, the throttle response is epic as is the noise!I keep thinking of adding an eaton charger however as my long term plan..

I had an mi16 engined 205 on 45's and it was the best sounding car ever lol, I have been through a few engines on this project last one I bought was a 20v apx s3 engine but I never put it in after driving a 1.8t mk2, it just seemed a bit souless, I liked the standard kr but mine needed a full rebuild and this low milage abf came up for a couple of hundred quid so I thought what the hell and bought it, cost a bit more since then mind but you know what they say n/a is the expensive way to go slow lol, I also have a jade green mk2 Gti on bike carbs lol

See i keep thinking i should fit a 1.8t, as they can produce some serious figures, i have heard though the can struggle to put it down, unlike a 2ltr which has no lag and suits the lightness of the mk2.

However, I have a forged oettinger 2000e lump in mine, which is kinda rare, and a really nice engine spec. Last year i decatted it (as i bought it in germany years ago so it had a cat) fitted a jetex stainless setup and fitted carbs at the same time. I had it RR'd at 184 a few years ago on injection with the cat and old exhaust, so am really hoping on the carbs, i am at the 200 mark at a guess. Problem i am having is getting the carbs setup, no one near here seems to want to touch them, its running rich at the bottom end and lean at the top.

Whats the spec of your jade green? who did you use to tune the carbs?

That's a sweet looking Mk2 it looks very similar to one that lives down the road from me but it has a bonnet scoop...

Also sorry to be an absolute cretin but when I read the thread name this popped to mind as I've spent too much time working in a garden center.

(weber bbq's... sorry... again.)

Green one is just a 8v Gti on zxr 750 carbs, it wasn't running when I got it but my dad managed to get it running pretty sweet, it is now being stripped as I need the tailgate, front wings and o/s quarter panel off it I will be parting the rest out so if you need anything give me a shout, tho I could probably build a second pretty mint car with the spares I have just collecting dust lol ( the mrs has told me I have to get rid of stuff and stop parts hoarding)
