Wiring in amplifier to Fabia

Featured Replies

Hi guys treated myself to a JL audio subwoofer and amplifier today as a christmas treat for my fabia vrs.

Just wondered if anyone has got any tips of how to wire it in?

Its been a while since ive dabbled with subs and amps.

Whats the best way to run the cable to the headunit from the boot? Centre console under carpet?

Whats the easiest way to get the power cable through to the battery?

Are there any holes in the firewall where it can go through without drilling?

Any other tips would be good :D

thanks!

Are you running to the original HU or aftermarket?

The best hole in the firewall is behind the glovebox, where the rear washer pipe runs in. Remove the glovebox and its obvious. Or connect it to the 12v constant used for the instrument cluster if you don't want to go through.

My power cables run from the firewall behind the glovebox, under the trim by the door sills. My speaker cables run under the carpet near the centre console by removing the passenger seat and taking it up whilst the sill trim was off.

Search carpet removal on here if you need more guidance - I did and it was dead easy.

down the side of the passangers side under the trims will hold it nice and there is a little bung under the scuttle on the passangers side run the power through there will have to drill a hole from there to the engine bay simple really i have a lot of wires running that way

Thats great thanks!

Im running to an aftermarket headunit so will have the right outputs. I probably wont remove the seat but can the carpet be pulled up fairly easily to run the wire through?

Running the power under the trim doesn't need the carpet up/seats out - so you could do this on both sides.

The carpet however is one piece and you won't be able to get it up near the middle to put the speaker cable there without the seats out.

Ah ok can it not be pulled though if the centre console plastics are removed?

yeah i had mine like this when i first fitted it, ran it through the center console past the handbrake and up into the boot. Only real problem is keeping the cables out the way of the handbrake and the carpet in the back is pressed down quite well over that little hump between both passenger footwells.

Ah ok i may try that way then see how i get on. Doing it that way i assume you dont have to remove the seats? You can pull the carpet back far enough to get to it?

havnt clicked that guide yet so dont know what it shows.

I've fitted in 3 differnt ways s it happens, and never removed the seats yet!

I've had it down the passanger side of the car all the way to the boot.

I've had it running down the centre of the car all the way to the boot.

I've had it the drivers side of the car running all the way to the boot.

Aslong as the plasic trim comes off to hide the wires its an ok job to do, just abit time consuming more than anything.

Hi (again) guys!

I just resurrected an old thread about under-seat subwoofer possibilities, and now I'm — consequently — thinking about the best way to get the power wire through the engine compartment and into the car. I found this thread and thought I'd pull another revival, instead of starting a brand new thread on the subject.

So, I have read about the glove compartment, and I've actually taken time to unscrew the thing and have a look behind it all. I'm still dazed and confused, though. I can't figure out where the cable should go. I have found two possible places, as you can see in my attached images.

First, it's this black plastic thing that you seem to be able to screw out. Is this what I should unscrew?

Second, it's this weird little sawed hole in the mattress, where you can see something that looks like the sharp edge on the end of a screw, where some black rubber (or plastic?) black padding is seen around the actual spike.

Am I on to something here, or totally in the blue?

I'd be much grateful for any help/input on this!

Cheers!

Did you find where to run it because im stuck to?

I'm sure it's been covered in a thread recently hutchysrs50 said about it.

For me I just put it through the passenger foot well just above the carpet where there is a grommet with a small plastic tube going through it. I didn't need to remove the glove box or anything I just enlarged the hole and fed it through.

Check the opposite side. Take down the trim from under the vent hole (where the light buttons are).
