DPF problems limp home

Adhal

Recommended Posts

After returning from London (300 mile round trip) the particulate load went to 0%! But it soon rose again after going to work and back. I have noticed that as long as I dont accelerate above 2500rpm the glow plug light does not come on when cold. When hot the light doesnt come on at all.

As the ash level is high then your DPF is close to the end of its life.

The ash is one of the by-products created when the soot is burned off and cannot be removed.

The higher the ash content the less effective the DPF becomes making passive regeneration even less likely.

The DPF therefore relys more on active regens, which if the parameters are not met will result in several failed attempts, this is when the lights start.

The EML is a strange one though?
