  • Err... I am 37 (and so is my wife) and we both have Skoda Yetis. Mine is the 170bhp 4x4 version and it's seen track use too. We are not all old farts you know. On a more serious note, we all fancy

  • If I won the lottery I'd shoehorn an Audi V10 into a 4WD Yeti

  • If it was a 1958 it was a 2, not a 2a. Yes, bit of a Land Rover fan... Sorry.

I have a yeti for you, the thing keeps shedding fur though and the Himalayan authorities are not very happy with me. I don't know.....

I quite fancy an original mini with an 1100 engine in it. Used to borrow one in the late 70's now and again and it was brilliant fun, what with the original 1100 gearing on 10 inch wheels it was a rite gokart

Im in love with 'box' cars aswell atm. Im still looking for an Ignis (ill trade the 306 if i find a good one!) I want a Wagon R, a Panda and Citigo..anything that rides tall but is small :)

My first car (shared with mum to be fair) was the Vauxhall equivalent to that Suzuki Wagon R - Vauxhall Agila Design. Little one litre and you had to take a run a hills on the motorway to keep it at / above 70, and it has to be one of the most uncool cars around, but I couldn't help but love it. Saw it around a year ago and felt a tad nostalgic. Being in a band, it was fantastic for carrying stuff, I could park it where I want and if it got knocked / scratch, you just don't care.

Put 135k on it before it started getting worn out and costly which is when it got traded in for the Polo. You can imagine ow amazed I was when I saw it a year later haha.

I do love the Fabia though, I know one other person with one, which is a VRS and he's a lot older than me. My mates take the **** out of me for driving a Skoda, yet they've all got cars like Puntos and Corsas which are all sheds. I even drove my friends BMW 320D for a day, and despite it being quick and having all the toys, I was still smiling when I got back into the Furby. Since your average chav / racer also cannot normally afford much more than a 1.2, the 100hp 1.4 does leave a smile on your face when they shoot off backwards at the lights :D

My ideal next car would be a Volvo c30 rdesign d5. It's the only car I've seen that I like other than the fabia :)

S3 might be my next car. Stage 3 sounds tasty (I know this is a Golf R)

The new Panda 4x4 has come out

The new Panda 4x4 has come out

I liked the old one, not seen a new one yet.

Its noting hugely drastic looks wise compared to the old one but on my cool wall it would sub zero :)

Whats blue&me?

It's the bluetooth and media thingy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue%26Me

Quite impressive it finds its way into lots of the lower spec cars as standard kit :D

Yeah its becoming more common for the lower spec cars to have a few nice extra's

I had a loan Mk6 Golf when mine was in for work done and that had phone/blue tooth connectivity and it was brilliant, something ill definately have in the next car

EJ, I'm not sure your OP is entirely "changing tastes"; I think it's partly "dream garage".

Should I win the EuroHundredsofMillions without actually buying a ticket, I'd keep my present Octy, and add a Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R V-Spec2 in Bayside Blue, a Citroen CX Loadrunner (6-wheeled van used for delivering the Paris papers all over France in about 5 hours), an original Range Rover, either a Cricklewood Bentley or a Mercedes SSKL, a Grosser Mercedes limo, a Bentley Mulsane Turbo R and a Honda Jazz with the CVT.

That's not so much "changing tastes" as "horses for courses" IMO.

Well to me it is a change in car taste as ive got older. Iv always lusted the hot GTi hatches, owned one infact. Saloon's, estates, tall riding box things and cross overs where for people who didt know their arse from their elbow and generally didt have much interest in cars but now i find although i do know my arse from my elbow and have a huge interest in cars, the larger cars are now appealing to me.

It has nothing to do with needs when getting older (kids ect) i have no children and tbh i have 0 interest in ever having one so a Yeti would be far too big for me but it does not deter me from wanting one.

Its more the understated look, i do love the look for the vRS but the spoiler is a tad chavy and the chrome tail pipes are a bit Halford's special offer but since it comes from the factory like that i feel i get away with it. If i had to choose right now the 170CR in the Yeti or the Octavia vRS id honestly go for the Yeti. This is my point.

Ah right; I lost interest in hot hatches after finding out that they weren't that fast. I then got into TDis on realising that they could keep up with hot hatches any place it mattered to me when I wanted to, and were way easier to drive gently when that's all I wanted. I was about your age at the time too.

You say that now, I married someone who was adamant she actively did not want kids. 6 years ago our son was born.

As for yeti sizes...you do know it's slightly smaller than an Octavia? I downsized to the yeti after a series of 5 octys.

As far as litres of space goes i think the Yeti has more, its alot taller for one.

I may want kids one day but as of yet hell no,

I love every Skoda now, the Roomster was my least favorite but i now want one of those aswell!

I hear you B)

Before I got my first vRS I very nearly went completely the other way and bought something classic. Was looking at anything from Morris 1000's to Jags, Vauxhall Chevette's, E30 3 series BMW's. No doubt I'll end up with something like that to keep and fiddle with eventually

Trust me, my last three Octavias (estates admittedly) were used for family trips to see the in laws etc when my son was younger and he needed more kit (buggy etc). Yeti ownership coincided with us no longer needing the buggy, potty etc so we've cut down the amount of kit we cart around, guess what they yeti is full and we need to fold a seat down to squeeze it all in.

Yeti boot, smaller, no question

great car though.

editL just checked, luggage capacity (min) for Octy 605 litres, yeti 416 litres

I keep looking at the Rapid and thinking it'll look quite nice in yellow with a few styling tweaks. :D

Oh yes the boot is smaller, by a long shot i thought you meant overall room, it must be an optical illusion!

Either way i managed to get 2 medium suitcases, a double duvet, 2 passengers and a fully grown German Shepherd in a 107..woman do car packing just that little bit better :p

Although these are very nice, their not exemplary, it is JUST like the Octavia and im yet to be convinced its any better

The interior of the Yeti isn't massively different from the octy fancy rear seats aside.

Nothing wrong with your taste in

cars. Ive ranged from minis to a 1958 109 series 2a Land Rover..

Most of your choices would be on my tick sheet.

If it was a 1958 it was a 2, not a 2a.

Yes, bit of a Land Rover fan... :D

Sorry.

Richard,

That is correct, which is what I thought. But this had history to it, ex MOD check by the Land Rover club which chassis plate stated it was a series 2a. Should have kept it but needed funds.

Really loved it, at 30 it felt like a ton, open top with screen down, stunk of fumes, double clutch changes and braking was via written request!
