Value diving ? Real or not ?

Featured Replies

I just ran another WBAC(.com) quote and it came in at just over 7k! eeek!

3 months ago is was near 10k (The same month I was offered 12k private)

I would hope that my low ish mileage and extra's would help a bit... Is this down to the 2013 model being very close or just to be expected ?

On top of LE oil burner spec (30k) I have parking sensors, sound proofing, Bluetooth, superchip map and spanking new wheels and tyres (Which cost be a cool grand) - as such I was hoping to retain 9k through to front end of next year; am I just dreaming ?

Watford seat have an LE on 32k for £9995.

Back in June I had two skoda dealers willing to do LEs with 29k for £11,500 on approved used terms so £12k was probably a good price at that point.

Up until the summer the FL VRS was holding value quite well, but now there are more and more coming to market as lots of three year finance deals come up that is no longer the case. I would expect the LE to now hold better than the 09/59 FL models and probably be worth the same as a 10 plate with similar mileage, although after that the newer cars will still be worth more.

The octavia three probably isn't hitting VRS values so hard at the moment as a direct replacement won't be on sale until late spring. I dare say it will, though, once it comes and there'll probably be a further slump then.

Ah, cool - a little bit of hope left then :)

Has your car just gone past a birthday?

You take a hit on that day and it stays stable for the rest of the year. The guides don't seem to take much notice if the car is 3yr 1mth or 3yr 11mth.

March 09... So not really... Wow - can't believe I have had a car that long and I still like it :)

I bought my 06 VRS from a Skoda main dealer around May/June time. At the time it was fractionally above the going rate for a petrol VRS but seemed worth it to get it with some main dealer warranty (which I subsequently extended to two years) - however casual skimming of the classifieds has been rather terrifying over the last few months as value on them seems to be in absolute freefall.. I paid £7,000 and now looks like I'd be lucky to get £5,000 for it.

Fact: cars lose money at an alarming rate. The cheapest car is the one you keep!

I think the value of petrol vRS's has dropped significantly since I bought mine in July 11. High powered petrols are currently very uncool.

My 56 plate was traded in June 2012, and I had to fight to get much more than £4,500. In the end I managed over five (including road tax refund which the dealer then stole) but didnt have many offers privately - one forum member was looking but he was able to get a fully specced car at £5k apparently, so didnt proceed. In some ways I'm glad as I wouldn't have been much better off financially and at least having traded it I'm guilt free if any problems suddenly crop up (car was pretty good when I let it go but you never know).
