Where's Kevin from Autoglass when you need him!?

Featured Replies

Just after some advice how to cleanly remove and refit a rear windscreen. Mainly the removal element, without risking breaking the glass as I know its not too tough to shatter it.... Also wondering if standard tiger seal type glue can be used to refit it, or whether the stuff they use is different? I remember it always looks the same, but thicker.

Hmmm very interested in how you get on Jason as my rear windscreen is really scratched and woud love to change it but fear would cost a bomb going thru autoglass and the like?!?

The screen bonding forms part of the car structure and if the wrong adhesive is used it may not be strong enough.

Can't you just use the glass repair part of your car insurance and pay the excess? I'm not sure if there is any criteria that needs to be satisfied to justify a replacement - I've certainly never been asked for any...

My xs is £75 so a cheap smashed up/dented boot for say £20 saves me a bit.

However, if this is not possible then the window will need to be smashed to be replaced as dog nail scratches (previous owner) are not

making replacement essential and can see thru it so won't be replaced by the insurance co.
