2003 VRS standard tyre size?

Featured Replies

Looking at my spare its a 205/50/17 which may be because it's just a spare, however all the rest are 225/45/17, and I've been browsing the net and noticed that a lot of alloys are 205/50/17. What is the correct size for an 03 plate VRS?

Happy Boxing Day! The correct size is the 205/50/17. Mine had those on all round when I picked it up from the dealership with 7 miles on the clock. People do put 225s on - as I did - but there's a debate as to whether it's a modification or not and do you need to tell your insurance company?

If you search on here, there are loads of threads about different tyre sizes and choices of manufacturers. There's no definitive answer to which is best as people have varying likes/dislikes and budgets.

Yep, 205/50/17 is correct for mk1 VRS.

I'll have to notify the insurance then, as I do think the 225/45/17 looks better. Cheers chaps :).

Yeah also mk5 golf gt uses 7" wide 17" alloys and uses 225/45/17 so if its fine for vw its fine for me
