FFS! Bulbs! F*****!

Featured Replies

I think I've just found the most annoying, frustrating part of this car!

Changing the main lights bulbs for the first time!!!!!!!!

I bought some Osram Nightbreakers thinking it'd be relatively straight forward and easy but it took a chuffing hour just to change 2 bulbs they were in that tight! What a ballache! Now i've removed them they come out easy but god knows what they were thinking when designing it.

Change at the roadside my ar*e!

My hand isn't normally pink and the pic really doesn't show the soreness and lack of skin layers left after such an awkward job. I'm sure it'll be worth it but with heinsight I think I'll get Halfords to do it for a fiver next time!

Had to get this rant of my chest!

Good info to have :-) feel sorry for your hand lol

When I fitted my Phillips Xtreme's I removed the fuel filter bracket to get to the back of the O/S headlight....

It is a pain, but surprisingly much better than many other cars - at least you can see where you have to get to.

HID's for me next or a set of bi-halogens from an elegance as these monte lights are poor to say the least.

Exactly the same problem here. Still haven't managed to do the drivers side!

in the megane with the fat ass you have to remove the front wheel and go in through the wheel arch liner! pmsl

Yep, I can remember watching it on 5-Gear a few years ago.

I managed to change bulbs on my Mk1 Fabia, but I do have small(ish) hands. Would using something like long-nosed pliers help? I used them to remove my side lights and indicators as they were stiff.

They are definitely a major ballache, I had the same issue, not cool!

You want to try it with black pack lights on a MK2, it is impossible, I took mine to the deakers to do it! Ron.

Hate to say it but I think when my time comes it's one for Halfords.

I had this issue and resolved it by using my 7 year old son, otherwise it would have been a Halfrauds trip.

For me it was a mixture of the lack of space and the stiffness of the fitting making me very wary of applying too much force (also unable to apply too much force as it was too painful!). Once you figure out how to release the bulb (a rag helps to grip the sharp bits) I didn't find it too difficult. Wouldn't like to do it if the engine was hot though!

  • 2 weeks later...

We have a 61 Plate Monte and the headlights are p*ss poor, what are people upgrading to ?

I changed our Fabia bulbs and it was easy, I don't have black lights though standard headlights maybe that black pack headlights are different?
