When applying vinyl roof goes wrong

Featured Replies

Just say oh well, we must use the material anyway as it cost me enough (carbon fibre white)

This was done a while ago I hasten to add but only just got around to posting this properly as I became Freedom

Carefully measure and cut using scissors lol and then applied, not bad for DIY bodge I say !

Although I still hate it and still wanted to put the white roof on....well the wife likes and its her car.

Oh and I'd rather have a petrol vrs (my others a diesel vrs) but she ain't having none of it

Thought it was a ford gt 40 lol :D I agree however its bloody awful

I guess if it's her car... For me, the Fabia is such a conservative design stuff like overhead stripes don't work; it didn't work on the previous generation Fiesta, either, and that was a factory option. I think you would have been on the right track if you'd done the roof, as you said.

All that's left now is you need to dyno it and let us all know how much horsepower it has gained. :giggle:

Hehe, if your wife loves it, nothing you can do. But you can always remove them if you ever come to sell it. It does however look like a job well done, judging by the photos.

I don't think I have enough left now to do anything else with it, certainly can't re-attempt the roof now.

I suppose I could cut into squares, carefully measure and draw using chalk or something and do a cheque board style roof with what I have left instead lol

Otherwise I don't know what to do with the leftover carbon white. I was thinking of doing something on my bike with it ! God knows what though

Already covered my laptop lol

I wonder how much someone would charge to do the roof white in vinyl. I could always have another crack at it but its not easy hence the aborted attempt last time.

Maybe white hub caps, and white mirrors?! :) You've done a good job lining them up, I'd get worried about getting one skewiff!

You won't loose that in a car park now

Not to my taste... But I think it would suit the mirrors being done ;) and maybe some highlights on the front

looks like a good job done there....... Looks wrong on the fabia.... but still good job.

I know, that's what I thought. It was good practice for applying vinyl though.

Still don't know if I'd have the balls to try the roof again though, if I did I think I'd go for the cheapest possible vinyl.

But 1) you are right, its easy to spot and

2) I was worried about on street parking with it being totally black - at least the white makes it stand out more when its dark and the road is unlit

Nah, if I was really going to do anything it would be either take it off lol, or have another go with the proper roof. Although actually it isn't white and black anyway is it, I think silver was the roof option anyway.

Its only a runabout for the missus, but I'd be more inclined to want to drive the HTP if it wasn't for the godawful graphics which would be so much improved if I could sort the roof

Part of giving up was I wasn't sure how to remove the beesting aerial, I figured it would require removing the inner lining which seems a bit of a ball ache ?
