2010 vRS rear right light unit

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Mrs Dodgy had a prang on the first day of our Christmas holiday in the lakes :( Nothing too serious, but the light unit is cracked. I've seen them on various sites for between 27 and 45 quid or so, but some of the sites say that the light unit is not suitable for vRS. They look the same in the pictures, anyone know for sure if I need a particular 'vrs' version of the light unit?

This site doesn't mention unsuitability for vRS https://www.headlampsdirect.co.uk/rear-lights/skoda-octavia-rear-light-rh-2004-2

But this one (selling what appears to be the same unit) says excl vRS http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Octavia-Mk-2-Hatch-4-09-Right-Hand-Off-Side-Rear-Light-/130822775464?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e75a522a8

Anyone help?

Thanks!

The rear light clusters are identical on the vRS and non-vRS Octavia's.

Just be warned that there is one type for the estate and one for the hatch.

Also be aware that the facelift Octavia (2009>) got a cosmetically tweaked cluster, the shape is the same so they fit both pre-FL and FL but the central integral reflector has been replaced with a clear/white strip...

For your 2010 vRS you need the cluster in your second link (clear strip) assuming your vRS is a hatchback.

Be warned that both those links are for patterned parts, they are not genuine.

A little cheaper, granted, but I paid £35 + VAT for a genuine cluster a few months ago.

I don't know why they say that they aren't suitable for the vRS, I think this is just a precaution as there are a few external components that aren't interchangeable, however the rear light cluster definitely are.

Thanks so much, I could have made a schoolboy error there! I don't mind paying extra for OEM, any recommendations for online suppliers? Or perhaps my local Skoda dealer is likely to be competitive?

Can't seem to find obviously genuine ones right now, how much different/inferior are the pattern copies likely to be?

I guess it can vary dependant on the source.

A lot claim "OEM quality" but can you be sure, especially when it somes to rear visibility at night.

This is why eBay and Amazon are a little risky as you really don't know where they are coming from.

A lot of local motor factors (Eurocarparts, Andrew Page, etc.) now do rear light clusters, but in my experience genuine is often only a little more expensive.

There is a main Skoda dealer that sells a lot on eBay (number1forskoda) who also run The Skoda Parts Shop (http://www.skodaparts.com/), I think they are Rainworth Skoda in Mansfield. I'd give them a quick call: 0845 337 7005

The non OEM one are a pile of poo and fade over time, becoming pink in colour.
