Hey all,

I've got a problem with my windscreen. No matter what I try I still have a smear for a second each time the wiper passes. I can also see spots where the rain lands and a mark where the left wiper stops in the middle of the screen.

I've put new Bosch wiper blades on, tries numerous types of screen wash and today I've just tried the Rain-X screen cleaner.

None of these helped, it's still smeary for a second then clears perfectly. But in constant rain its a problem.

First off I thought I'd fitted the wiper wrong because the spoiler bit is on the top of the drivers wiper and the one that came off was on the bottom. But there is no other way to fit it.

Any suggestions?

Give some vinegar on news paper a try to clean over it & buff, then a clean soft cloth to burnish.

or if you have some Methylated Spirits.

The old stuff still often works best.

IPA or Meths

Then seal it with GTechnik G5

+1 for the vinegar . I use distilled white vinegar diluted 50\50 with water. Works a treat as and its cheap as chips. Keep it in a spray bottle.

Using a clay kit might also help to remove any surface contaminants. Not sure it will help in removing any film/residue off the surface.

I might have to clay it, as after meths and white vinegar its worse than ever! Not sure wth is on there, but it's stubborn.

The wipers are Bosch ones and went on about a month ago, maybe 3 weeks? I'll have one more go at it today with meths again and see what it's like. That's if it ever stop persisting it down outside!

Give your wipers a wipe with the meths.

Hi. I watched this video and tried it and it worked really well for me so I would recommend it. I was nervous using the wire wool but it was no problem and didn't scratch the windscreen at all
