Weak horn

Featured Replies

Hi guys! I have disassembled my front bumper as I am changing one of the front lights. In the operation I saw that my horns are placed on each side underneath the bumper, and I suddenly remembered how weak they sound.

My horns have the same tone as a small baby, but the baby screams much louder. I actually wont use the horn, because I think the sound of it is embarassing :p Has anyone experienced the same kind of thing with their horns, and are there any solutions? Maybe I should buy a trailer-horn :p ?

Thanks in advance =)

There is an adjusting screw on each horn which can be used to optimise the performance. A small adjustment makes a big difference, so it helps to have an assistant. When correctly adjusted, the horns are loud enough for me. It's also possible that the horns are not seeing full voltage on your car - check relay and fuses.

The Spanish made Bosch horns on my Superb were beginning to rust badly when I pulled the front to change the cambelt. Very poor quality materials and treatment - shame on you Bosch. VAG should not fit this junk.

Treat with corrosion retarding wax such as Dinitrol.

rotodiesel.

I see Rotodiesel has already provided you with what I'm sure is a technically perfect reply ... he's fairly awesome at that type of thing. I think as a child he was fed on a diet of Haynes manuals and gearbox oil.

In the face of such a comprehensive reply, I can only add to your topic of "Weak horn", that perhaps you could try this?
