Octavia II Climate Control - central vents - no output?

Featured Replies

All the other vents in the dash seem to be working and outputing air except the two in the centre of the dash? Nothing comes out, regardless of the settings of the controls or position of the vent louvres.

Therefore, as a relative newcomer to the car, I thought I would ask if someone can point me to the possible causes/solutions?

Many thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

John

Mine seems to work best by using the individual buttons (the ones with the arrow pointing to footwell and arrow pointing to face) rather than using the auto Climatronic.

Especially so in cold weather. Highish temperature setting (say 70 F if it is very cold out) and soon a good warm current is coming through the centre dash vents.

Many thanks but I think I have tried that already - without result!

Whatever the settings are, it seems to make no difference - is there some sort of solenoid-operate flap that controls the airflow to these vents which might not be working? (BTW - the vents at either end of the dash seem to be fine)

If you are on full auto the centre vents will only start working when the climate control is cooling the car down.

If you let the car interior warm up then turn the temperature all the way down to cold you should get cold air from the centres.

On my 2nd climate controlled Octavia - both the same.

Many thanks as that seems to explain quite a lot - IIRC, that did seem to be the case during the summer. However, I don't always use the system in full auto mode, as I would like to get warm air from the vents in winter to warm my left hand when driving? If that possible in manual, economy or semi-auto mode?

Mine will give hot air from the centre vents when the the face level vents are selected manually. Only need that when really cold. Wear gloves meanwhile.

Egg on face time - Ednma and Gregoire are perfectly correct and the vents do work when this button is pressed. Problem was that I thought the lower left hand button was for the lower LH footwell, not the central vents - and it was only when I finally read the manual that I realised my mistake!
