PD100 mods?

Featured Replies

I'm a bit strapped for cash after buying the car last week, so can't afford a remap for a few months.

Does anyone know of any simple/cheap mods that will improve performance? Are the diesel boxes on ebay any good? Will the Cupra intake mod work? Do K+N filters make a difference?

I'm new to the forum and I've noticed it's mostly vRS owners posting, does anyone mod 'ordinary' Fabias?

I've fettled with my PD100 a little (see my sig :D). I am very happy with my 30 quid eBay tuning box. I also have a Green panel filter, but I'm not sure I'd invest in another one of those if I did it again, and would just change the paper filter more often. Performance-wise it may have made a marginal difference, but realistically, just affects the induction noise! I've not bothered with the PD160 intake either, mainly because I'm waiting for some proof from a VAG-COM'er that it makes a difference ;):D

Chris

I have a cheap box with low/ high settings.

I will take

buy J's re-mapped pd100 ecu

John, you have a PM

I've got a k&N filter in mine. They're supposed to be much better than green in quality. Filters do make a marginal difference though, especially for turbo'd cars.

Agreed, I have a Jetex filter in our D4D Yaris and it made a night/day difference ... even my missus noticed the increase in torque and smoothness

See..:)

K&N rules though...go for those for your Furby...there's such a noticeable difference in performance, and the sound is fantastic too..

Jetex part number F219216 -

gotta be carefull with k&n on vag cars, if you clean them and put too much oil on you can knacker your maf

The Peugeot WRC team might disagree with you there :P

There was a post flying around this web site somewhere where somebody had spent an almost madening amount of time researching the difference. The results were.

Similar power gains (none :D/very slight, more about the feel)

K&N was indeed slightly louder

Green of better construction and more advanced moulding

Green had a better filter rate on the test by about a 10% if I remember correctly

Green filter was the one to buy

I'm temporarily skint, so John's tuning box and a Jetex filter will have to do for the time being.

Now that's the engine sorted, now for the wheels ... anyone know of any 15" steels that will fit?

(I work in West Bromwich ... not the best place to take fancy alloys!)

The Peugeot WRC team might disagree with you there :P

Chris

Now tell me something...you're going to actually pay attention to the opinions of the French? Of ALL people????

K&N is widely used here in Dubai, and was recommended to me, so I took it from there.

About putting too much oil...that's where following instructions come in;)

Well, they must be doing something right to keep winning the WRC, although the cynic in me thinks it may be down to the number of cars and drivers they entered rather than the quality of the cars ;)

Chris

Well' date=' it may be down to the number of cars and drivers they entered rather than the quality of the cars ;)
