RARB or Strut Brace or both?

Featured Replies

Evening all just a quick question really, on my latest car I have a Forge Strut brace fitted, my previous one which I still have (in pieces I will add) has a Whiteline RARB fitted too it.

My question is, should I be looking to keep one or the other on the car or should I fit both of them on to help improve the handling even more? Will I see any more improvement over just the strut brace/RARB fitted on there own?

Massive difference with a RARB fitted, not much with the strut brace... That's just me though, I still run both of them and coilovers never the less.

Wax/paint/love!?!? both over the winter months before you fit both some time in early May?

Strut braces are fairly redundant on modern cars, but RARB would make a big difference.

As most have said, the RARB will make the most difference by far.

Agreed - RARB does make it happen !!

Im not denying the RARB makes a massive difference to the handling as I remember it on my last car, just wondered if it would improve it more over just on its own when fitted with a strut brace also or should I sell or the other...

IMO tyre sidewall stiffness makes more difference unless you've an extreme setup. Rainsports have squidgy/soft sidewalls, most other modern tyres have stiffer or reinforced sidewalls to better resist rolling off the rim and/or provide better resistance to kerbing/sidewall damage. There are also arguments relating to tyres and McPherson strut suspensions...

For more "fun" stick rainsports on the back but conti 2s or maybe Bridgestones on the front. Front "dodges like a snipe" whilst the back takes a moment more to settle. Ultimate grip levels don't come into it, it's all about the feel of the car when making steering inputs, small or big.

RARB = 4 star improvement to handling

strut brace = 1 star improvement to handling

together = 5 star improvement to handling

I guess it boils down to if you'd rather have that little extra handling or a little extra cash

I like your thinking behind it Pastyboy lol. Well I'm stripping and selling the entire car so hoping to make a bit of profit after buying it back from the insurance so if i dont have to sell it all the better really.

I was going to fit a RARB with my coilovers but told it doesnt make much difference when fitted with coilovers?

It made a big difference to my old one when I fitted it, back end felt kinda twitchy under cornering but felt a lot tighter once fitted.

its the tyres that stick the car to the road so you can put strut braces , RARB's etc on but if u run budget tyres then i cant see it making alot difference compared to putting a good set of tyres on like pirelli p zero nero which grip the road exceptionally well
