Discs and pads

Featured Replies

Looking to source new brakes for the Fabia and been searching on Euro Car Parts for them.

Car is a 56-plate 1.9 TDi PD100.

Fairly certain it's got 256mm discs on front and 232mm discs on rear. Euro list all different sizes for my car.

Just looking for confirmation of sizes before I order them?

Can anyone help?

Cheers

Del

Try using VW spares to confirm. I'm almost certain you're right... 256mm disks and FSIII calipers on the front. All the OEM rears are the same - 232x9.

I was going to suggest googling it but many just get it plain wrong!

Well google is good if you use the right search terms! 256 comes up for PD100 but I suggest using a tape measure if you are unsure.

Just don't buy Eicher whatever you do.

Likely be going for Pagid. I usually buy Brembo.

Are Eicher rubbish?

if you look on the sticky label in the boot there is a whole list of chassis pr option codes, one of which tells you which brakes it has fitted

1LQ and 1LR are for 256mm discs

1LN are for 288mm discs

Go Pagid :)

Don't forget the brisky 25% discount code or from time to time, a 30% discount code at ECP. Also, can "click and collect" stuff. Also, also, their in store systems are better and can confirm correct sizes at point of sale.

288mm dia discs are only fitted to the 2.0 petrol and vRS. Your 1.9 TDI will have 256mm discs, Upgrading to 288mm will mean new hubs and calipers,

All rear discs are the same 232mm.

For discs and pads, I'd go for Mintex, Ferodo, EBC or OEM Pagid.

Eicher are ECP's own brand manufactured in the far east, they aren't the same as a similar sounding company based in India, basically they sub out the manufacturing to whoever can deliver at the required price. While they are tested to UK/EU standards and a lot of the traditional brands also manufacture in the far east Eicher are a very budget pad, that is reflected in the price but Padgid or Bosch for me isn't that much more especially over the tens of thousands of miles they last.

For example Eicher front discs and pads would set me back £42 ish and should last me 30k no problem at all. That's £1.40 per 1k miles, Padgid were circa £60 or £2 per 1k miles, so 60p saving per 1k. Put in context fuel costs me just under 15p a mile, the savings per thousand miles of Eicher vs Padgid equate to 60p per thousand miles, that's about 4 miles worth of fuel. You can save that several times over per tank just by driving more sensibly and making sure your car is properly serviced/tyres inflated correctly.
