1.4 TSI Mpg...here we go!

Featured Replies

Hi all sorry to ask this one, but I'm looking at a 1.4 tsi wondering how many miles i can expect to get from a full tank and roughly how much it will cost to fill a tank at the moment?

Thanks for your time!

55 litre tank @ whatever your fuel costs locally?

I'd guess that Max on that would be about £70 at current prices, more likely in the £60+ range, assuming not central London or some remote island / highland.

Don't have a petrol engine variant so can't answer the range question.

Hi Alleycat...thanks for the reply just needed to have an idea of what range in miles you would be looking at for a full tank...mpg presume looking between 30-50 mpg depending on city or motorway..

I'd expect a 1.4Tsi to get around 400-450 miles to a tank.

Our 1.2Tsi manages 440 with an average mpg of around 40, leaving a bit spare so no panic looking or a garage.

A diesel will give you another 100 or so.

I keep meaning to find the time to check my fuel consumption but what with all the conversions, kilometres and litres to miles and gallons, I keep putting it off. I will try to do this in the near future. Anyway I would say that BossFox is close to being right, around 400- 450 mpg per tank, but I do find the consumption quite high on hard motorway driving. But still glad I got the 1.4TSI it;s a superb engine.

Just put the figure up in L/100KM. You can also just type that figure straight into google and it will convert for you I think or find a conversion site.

I'd say around 400 miles max around town and maybe up to 500 miles on a long steady cruise.

honestjohn.co.uk/realmpg gives mpg as reported by owners - compared to the unrealistic, eu-imposed mpg that manufacturers publish. Owners on that site reckon that a Yeti 1.4tsi should average 36.4mpg overall.

I wish.......average last few tankfuls has been about 35mpg......

That's driving solidly around London......

I think you have a combination of the worst diesel drivetrain (6spd DSG and 4x4) and spend a lot of time in congestion, not to mention a DSG diesel Yeti is probably one of the heaviest there is.

Nice car, but you pay the penalty in fuel consumption. :(

I brimmed my tank then ran until the fuel warning light came on then I brimmed the tank again, according to my maths I got 40mpg. I clocked 682.9 kilometres, about 300 of this was high speed motorway driving the rest was around the villages. I included my figures for a smarter member to check.

682.9 kilometres/48.2l litres

424.3 miles/10.59 gallons

Hope this is of some help

See some results:

10.2-10.5 l/100 km only town, but a little center of town with a normal driving

8.5-10 l/100km on the highways and extratown. Sometimes with Thule and the speed was about 100-120 km/h and 130-150 km/h on the highways

My 1.4 TSI is giving me about 31mpg. Thats with mostly duel carriageway driving (with round about's every 500-1000 yards)

On a long run I've had her get up to 47, that was about 100 miles on the M4 at night with the cruse control set at 72 for the entire time.

Range... well I get about 400 miles a tank, although I fill her up when she gets down to half a tank and I've normally done about 200 miles by then, could probably get more than 400 but to be honest I really dont like getting below 1/3 of a tank. Old habits and all that
