Tyre Deals - 4x 18"

Featured Replies

I'm on the look out for four new tyres for my Octavia vRS in the next month.

I've read the many tyre threads on the importance of not scrimping on tyres and understand the rationale behind it.

I'm a little different though and favour a harder compound that gets me long life and better fuel economy rather than the sticky variety!

Checking the usual culprits, Camskill, Blackcircles, Mytyres etc. I'm a bit baffled by the choices available.

I'm limited with a budget of a maximum of £100 per tyre inc, shipping VAT and fitting so am looking at the bottom end of the market.

Does anyone know of anywhere doing deals on four 225/40 R18 tyres!?

(The car was supplied with four brand new budget tyres (Evergreen) and they have been suprisingly good through a couple of winters and have done almost 30,000 miles, the problem is I can't find anyone local who'll supply me with another set!).

Thanks for any help!

Well I dont run that size so cant say too much but I have used this brand before and they were ok.

These are cheap enough IMO.

Dont know if the load index is enough though as you havnt specified.

Good find, thanks!

The current tyres are 92 W (Extra Load).

£199 delivered is not to be sniffed at, especially when the same tyres are £308 on www.mytyres.com

I guess the problem with buying tyres on eBay is that you then have to find someone to fit them. I can't imagine tyre fitters falling over themsleves to fit tyres I've bought from someone else?

I've found these (Barum Bravuris) for £346 fitted...

And I've actually found the Evergreens I have on now too for the exact same price.

The search continues...

how about 4 of these, im running a pair on the front of my Octy and they are fab

Your local tyre fitters should have no problem fitting them and should charge no more than £15 a wheel inc valve and balance just ask around.

Business is business! Our local independent tyre place will fit them for £10.50 per tyre (but they aren't very good at looking after your alloys though).

I just fitted some falken ze914's in 225/40/18

I saw these too, they seemed to be touching £90 plus fitting, but they get great reviews.

Did you get a good deal?

I bought them along with new alloy wheels as a package so couldnt really say how much they cost?

I picked them as i previously had the 912's on my octy and they were good for the money!

So naturally went for the new 914's obviously havent tried them yet as its wet outside and the tires are still new so havent been bedded in yet

I've run Maxxis MAZ1 for years now. Bit noisy but otherwise as good as any other tyre I've had on the car. Found them particularly good in winter, for a summer tyre. I only paid £86 a corner last time.

Falkens are also good and can be a similar price.
