Help would be great on smartphone selection...........

Featured Replies

Hi All

Finally decided to bin my nokia phone and sim-only deal and get myself some smartphone action.

Have some fairly clear criteria (below) and would really appreciate any recommendations on what to go for....

  • Compact-ish size
  • Cheap - i.e. free phone with contract and less than 20notes per month
  • NOT apple
  • Will be a bit of email use and internet, but will mainly be used as a phone
  • Enough memory for a few decent apps and a fair bit of music
  • Good quality and aesthetically pleasing!

Currently thinking to go for a HTC desire C as can get one for 15notes a month (free phone) for all the mins/text/data I need.

Thanks in advance

Andy.

Daughter has a Samsung galaxy ace 2 had good feedback from her

Desire c can be very sluggish if you use a lot of apps. No camera flash either. Swmbo always moans at hers, but you can get them payg for £100 though.

when i was looking a few months back you could have the s3 on redemption for 21 notes, only a quid more but a great phone rather than an adequate one

At least whilst she's doing that you get a bit of respite then? :giggle:

+1

I have one of these and as long as you don't need to many apps it is a good phone. I think that they all come with a 2gb memory card as well.

Just make sure that you get a case for it as the screen is quite easy to scratch. I have got a couple of small ones in 6 months of having the phone (without a case).

The screen is easy to read and responsive when touched (I was worried about texting on it but it is a doddle). It seems fairly durable as well. I can't remember how many times I've dropped it and it still works perfectly. The only sign that it has been dropped is a small dent near the charging point that can only be seen in bright sunlight.

I wish!
