More bhp

Featured Replies

Hi what else can I do to get more bhp to my fabia vrs 04 without doing anything major getting it mapped up next week any ideas please thankyou

The "easy" things are

Decat - circa £100 at most

Mufflerectomy - Remove backbox, replace with pipe - Perhaps £100 too?

Both these free up some exhaust restriction

Green cotton panel filter is a good shout

PD160 intake pipe for better breathing.

But ultimately, mapping even on stock setup, gives you the best bang for buck.

Best thing has to be a remap, mufflerectomy / decat will add slight power but not very noticeable. Decat does allow the turbo to spool up faster though :)

So what sort of bhp do I think I can get it upto thanks

I have a de cat pipe comeing off my car next week £50 if your interested

There's been posts of people after mufflerecttomy saying the car feels slower, just so you know :)

My car never felt slower after a mufflerectomy :)

I'd say you can get the car too 165-180bhp depending on map :)

The limiting factor on a stock setup is the turbo, so unless you change that 170bhp.

189bhp on stock turbo and intercooler with no issues, bin the EGR as well.

Good effort. What map does it run?

Darkside developments 1600 quid will get you 230 bhp fitted and remap all done there, bargain I think

Well, in reality, it should feel exactly the same. Some people do "feel" strange things when they do modding as sometimes the placebo effect makes people think their car is doing something different when its perhaps just sounding different. :)

It is, Until you realise (as far as i can see on the site) they've flogged you decat/4 bar map sensor which you don't need for 230bhp but no intercooler which you do. You'd be better off getting a hybrid/map/intercooler for not much more IMO.

Also adding to that you'd need a decent clutch to handle it all. Got to he talking 3K for a hybrid setup after everything.

Of course you could use the standard clutch but it wouldn't last long.

You'd need intercooler for 'stage 2' . Blasting up and down the hills on the heads of the valleys road with my old shark mapped vrs using the stock intercooler resulted in heat soak. Whacked on a seat sport fmic and it made a huge difference resulting in no heat soak :D

standard smic is useless in standard form....

Ths intercooler is the better buy, welded ends, lower core temps, cheaper job done

surely pushing the turbo to it's limit - will it last? Or very optimistic dyno. Normally need a PD150 turbo for that sort of power.

The THS cooler was after my time with the fabia. Seat sport or forge were the only tried and tested options then.

Jabbasport highly recommend the seat sport but not the forge. To be honest the forge FMIC is tiny in comparison - I've seen one up close and personal. I did suggest to Forge they should revisit the fabia and make a larger intercooler but they won't - it's too long in the tooth now and they've done their own version of the seat sport intercooler.
