Hi,

My MPH Speedo isnt working - However when i stop the car the speedo is all over the place. Any ideas? I will get a reading with VCDS Shortly.

also fuel gauge drops when turning sharp left of right

and no faults with vcds

there is a sensor that lives at the back of the gearbox towards top, check it is connected properly and push it into gearbox, these kinda wiggle loose and cause this, if this doesnt fix it im almost 100% this will need replaced

Where abouts is this? Can I access this from the inside or outside of the car?

Almost certain something is loose because if I do sharp right and left turns whilst driving sometimes my MPH moves along with fuel etc.

What would need replacing? Just the sensor?

Under the bonnet, back of the gearbox towards the top of the gearbox, sensor there may need settling by pushing it in properly seating it. If that doesn't work, replace the sensor.

Is this the speedo sensor? If so it doesn't look healthy too me... Looks like it has totally come off the gearbox! Suggestions please

looks like it would be the likely culprit, is some still inside the gearbox, tbh i dont know what they look like on his, but when i did my clutch i know this was the sensor that i forgot to plug back in and i had identical symptoms.

So it would either need reconnected or replaced.

all i know on mine it was back of gearbox near the engine itself.

Hope thats enough info but it looks like your on the money if its totally adrift, they kinda just sit in the gearbox and can be sorta twisted etc, not solid in other words (thats on mine so may be a variation on ippys)

If your car had ABS it doesn't use a sensor in the gearbox
