Getting powerflex wishbone rear bush in!

Featured Replies

Started a mission today fitting coilovers and doing both wishbone bushes with powerflex bushes :)

Got strut free with the aid of a sledge,

When it comes to refitting the powerflex rear wishbone bush it's being a pain, tried lining it up with a block of wood over it and smacking it but I think the poly is absorbing the shock rather than being jolted in?

Will pop out later and buy a g clamp as I didn't have one to hand, before I do I just wondered if anyone had another method for doing it?

Cheers :)

Stand on it?

I can't, the consoles still on the car!

That will teach me for commenting whilst watching the Football!

have you cleaned the console out

very fine wet and dry

then try lubing it

Yeah consoles all clean, the issue is getting it 'started' in going in, im sure once the lip is in the console square I can persuade it right in its just squirming all over the place due to all the lube rather than getting in squarely!

Use less lube!!!!...........................

Oh boy you've got problems..............whats the GF saying????

Hahahaha no problems getting in THAT hole...well not due to lubing anyway lol more down to her mood :p

My method for tight bushes (oo er :giggle: ) is put the bush in the freezer for a bit before instalation as things contract when they get colder. Worked wonders when I did rear trailing arm bushes on my rover last weekend.

Cheers guys :)

Got it in! Took some persuasion with a clamp then a tap with the end of the sledge!

Needed a ratchet strap to pull the wishbone in still but it's all sorted now :)

Oh and thanks for the freezer tip ill use that for the other side :)

  • 5 months later...

do you need to interfere with the brake lines doing rears?

  • Author

No mate, just don't let the hub hang off the flexi brake line!

Awesome. Hopefully I won't have to many problems tomorrow

A long thread, some big washers and a few nuts to make a puller then have at it !!
