VCDS Boost Levels - To check if the cars mapped. Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Hi,

could anyone advise me on this? Sorry if its in the wrong section?

Basically theres nothing with my car to say its been mapped, but having driven two recently this one pulls and holds the power alot more, now it might just be my head, or its been serviced better, but I know somehow theres a way of checking off VCDS.

Could some shed some light to what area and blocks I need to look at, and what it should be running standard?

Many Thanks

Channels 3,7,11 rings a bell will double check unless John beats me to it lol

Group 11 is requested and actual boost. If either are above about 1.3 bar (so readout says more than 2300) then its safe to guess its mapped

Thanks guys appreciated. Will check and post.

Im not sure I was checking the right reading, but under load, 3rd gear, 3000k, the reading was coming up at 2340?

2340 is stock boost. Also log channel 1. IQ should be 47mg at 4000rpm.

I've just picked up a VRS and the previous owner wasnt sure if its been remapped.

I've got a log from VCDS lite group 11 if anyone is able to take a look for me please?

Forgot to mention its a 06 plate BLT

Post it up and I'll tell you

Thanks John.

Hopefully this attaches correctly

3rd gear WOT from low rpm

Standard boost, but the actual boost is 200 odd mbars above requested (and fluttering a bit too), so I would be looking to see if maybe the actuator is sticky - This can cause overboost as the vanes are not properly opening at higher revs.

Duty cycle 86.9% at 4000 rpm is also a little high.

Could be that maybe the actuator just needs winding out a half turn or so.  Then repeat the log.

Any chance it has had a replacement turbo at some point?

Thanks for the reply. I bought the car with service history but not a lot of receipt history, I have no idea on the turbo whether its the original and the actuator has been messed with. The car has done 124k. Not looking to put much money into it but was looking to remap.

Search the mr muscle cleaning trick then.  Something relatively easy to do which might help with it being on that mileage.  Has it ever dropped into limp mode on you?  Killed the boost whilst accelerating hard?

I've just been reading a thread on the mr muscle fix lol.

It hasn't ever dropped to limp mode or dropped boost. Everything under the bonnet is standard. Asv/egr in place. Standard intercooler pipes etc.

Think I'll look into the mr muscle fix, replace the intercooler pipes and check the actuator

Like Jason says its stock but overboosting. I suspect it's had a replacement turbo in its life. Try me muscle first but I suspect the actuator is too short as its almost making out at 95% at the top of the Rev range.
