Is there any end to insurance quote oddities?

Featured Replies

Because it's newer and the C-Max being an 06 has had more time to be crashed. Expecting my vRS insurance to go up again in August :(

*Sexist and not really serious post alert.*

(I pay virtually the same what ever car i have insured to drive, £50 or so difference from bland to less bland.

Old and very careful not to get knocked into, not saying a good driver)

re

C-Max,

first thoughts would be School Run car rather than the Cherished pride and joy. (Alfa)

Bigger claims and pay out risk history on C-Max and Mum Mobiles.

So maybe just the Insurance Risk computer programmed by a Man who thinks,

Women might at times drive a C-Max .

Or perhaps they are gambling on Alfa's reputation and expecting it to spend significant time off the road

Massive con. Hate insurance, if it wasnt the law then no one would have it at the prices they dish out.

I have nothing but good experiences with my insurer. Been with them for longer than i can remeber, probably around 15 years. Now and again i shop around for fun and havent beaten my premium yet going elsewhere. Changed from BMW to VRS end of last year. Phoned them up and lo and behold my premium dropped considerably without any haggling or moaning. Phoned several years ago to add missus onto insurance and premium never changed.

I only pay about £300 for my VRS so if i wrote it off they are facing a near £20k bill. Not bad for £300 really. I have full NCD which is protected also.

Some previous insurance companies did try and take the **** in the past but i binned them immediately as there are plenty of them out there. Now i would stay with mine even if another was slightly cheaper as its not worth the risk of leaving a company who has consistently provided cheap competitive cover with zero hassle and who never try and take the **** by hiking my premium from year to year for no reason.

Is it not the case that many insurance companies were not running much profit due to uninsured driver accidents and people overclaiming i.e the usual whiplash milarky when there is nothing wrong with you?? Im sure i read something about this but could be wrong.

Either way im happy with mine and have been for a long long time.

Which insurer are you with as they sound like they'd be worth a look when mine comes up for renewal in a couple of months :D

I think the only real test of an insurance company is the claims process and the quality of the repair/settlement amount should you need it, but (un)fortunately it's rare that we have to go through this and so the bottom line of cost usually wins out.

I was with Esure for years but the premium was creeping up. Went with Axa via quidco this year and got it for nearly £200. £100 cheaper than ESure were quoting and for a lower excess too. Maybe there was some benefit to turning 35.

Fortunately i havent had to make a claim yet but i agree if my insurer then proved to be a nightmare then my loyalty was all for nothing.

I use Direct Line.

The dilema most of us face is to claim or just to pay for repairs cash. My protected NCD allows me to make 3 claims in 5 years, i think, so i wouldnt want to waste them on 3 poxy wee claims and then the car gets written off. DOH.

The catch with protected NCB is if you claim they keep the NCB the same but just slam up the premium. Heads they win, tails you lose.

Yeah protected or not you still have a accident on your policy

Been doing some quotes online, found some strange things going on lol

1. Changing my job title from Electrical Engineer to Electrical Fitter lowered my insurance by £18?

2. Changing where i park my car from driveway to on the road knocked off nearly £50!

3. Adding the non fault claim (someone hit my car at work when it was parked) increased the quote by £100!

Well, I once wrote a car off, in an at fault accident, bought something newer and faster (yes and higher insurance group) to replace it, and got a 10% lower premium!!

Non-fault claims really annoy me. You can drive safely for years then something like this happens and its all for naught, insurance co wins again. They should make it illegal to ask you about non-faults (and that you therefore shouldn't need to declare them).

Non-fault claim hasn't made a jot of difference to any of my quotes since it happened. Job titles are very sensitive. Just be glad your not a 'sportsman' or 'journalist'.

Its a joke, annoys me as being quite young my insurance is high anyway.
