Hello From Southampton

Featured Replies

Only gone and done it.. bought a Skoda.

It's got heated rear screen so I can keep my hands warm when i am pushing it...... yeah yeah heard all the old jokes.

Nope so far very pleased.

I wanted a diesel as I have always had diesels but this 1.6i caught my eye. Low miles 57k on an 02 plate. For sensible money. Nice and basic. A few issues to sort out but in general very pleased.

Going though the history it's been well serviced main dealer to 23k and then local under the arches ( London ) garage that looks to have really done the car proud. Being a London ( ex ) car it has already had a new clutch at 46k, also the last owner was an older person so I am guessing there might have been abit of riding the clutch in traffic.

I got this for my wife so I am just running about in it to shake down any issues and get them sorted. Before I hand it over.

I will post my list of problems in the correct part of the forum in a mo..

Belive it or not this car is a major step down for us. My wife has a BWM 5 series Tourer Auto Diesel. Now she is not working , being a house wife we have no need for the tank as it's known. Great car all the toys you could like goes like a bat out of hell but we just don't need all that.

So que the Ocativa. I wanted to get one before for her but she had a paddy about the badge ( skoda ) but now I have won her over and this car will be a trial run for us. I think we will end up getting an Estate in the future and a VRS. But for now a basic clean low miles car to try out.

Plus on my 90mile run back from London and a few places on route at a steady 65mph on the motorway I was getting 44 MPG!!!! we are lucky to get 32mpg in the BMW and it's diesel. !!!!!!!!!!

So I think this is going to be a winner for the school runs. No street cred but she does at least have a Porsche for summer use to make up for it LOL!!!! So I do need to get a sign that says " My other car is a Porsche " for the back of the Skoda.

Our car is not the one in the photo but 100% the same on an 02 will take pic later as dealer has taken his picks down.

I was going to get some alloys and a boot spoiler for it but I have to say I like it very basic.

Issues to sort

rattle from suspension

to change rear tail gate rams

cam belt change and waterpump

Service

some thing gone wrong with the lumbar support on the drivers seat.

prob will have to repaint the pass doors as some scratches too deep to do anything with.

Cheers, I am going though the net looking for solutions to my problems. Well not problems just my list of things to do to keep the car tip top.

The more I read the more I want a VRS LOL!!!

Just worked out I have a BFQ Engine so I am shopping on line for parts..

I got £300 off the screen price of the car so that's the money that's going towards all the new parts.

welcome to Brisky. Another Sotonian on the site

Well I have other toys that put bigger grins on my face :giggle: the Skoda is the daily run about. It's also a cost cutting experiment. But certainly the VRS could well be the next move in a few years if the wife likes the idea and is back to work she can have one then. It's these dam kids they need er..... family sized transport. :wonder: dam pesky kids.
