HPC Young Drivers Day 2013

Featured Replies

The High Performance Club will be running another Young Drivers Day on the 13th of July 2013. This is open to those who are aged 26 years or less and hold a full driver's licence, and are not already HPC members. The aims of the day are to:

  • Promote awareness of driving skills at advanced levels
  • Encourage the participants to develop their own skills
  • Have fun

More details are available on the HPC website.

are you a memeber?? advanced driver???

Gareth is yes as is a couple of other Briskoda members.

Keep meaning to attend but other commitments get in the way. Think I best just have a couple of days with the gatekeepers...

cntuning - any particular reason for asking, or was it just curiosity?

Tempted by this as there's always room to improve. Any more info?

There's not a lot of info, although if you Google there are various reviews (by unbiased people ;)) on other forums and some on here from previous days.

The usual format of the day is:

- Introduction to HPC

- 1 hourish drive (with HPC member as a coach and you driving your own car on a suggested road route)

- 1 hourish drive (with HPC member driving his car over same or different suggested route)

- Classroom-style presentation on a topic (anatomy of bend, overtaking, etc)

- Lunch

- Classroom-style presentation on another topic (anatomy of bend, overtaking, etc)

- Classroom-style presentation on track driving

- 1 hourish drive (with different HPC member as a coach and you driving your own car on a suggested road route)

- 1 hourish drive (with different HPC member driving his car over same or different suggested route)

- Summary/close of day

The HPC driving/coaching is based on the standard advanced driving bible Roadcraft (the Police System of Car Control) and if you want to hit the ground running, it's well worth having a read up on it before you go. And the "High performance" relates to the drivers rather than the cars, although I suspect there will be quite a few nice cars there too...

Another good (if extremely hot) day. Thanks to the young drivers who attended. It's very good to see you so keen to improve and progress. Hopefully any Briskodians who came from here enjoyed themselves, and sorry if I didn't get to say hello. I spotted at least one black Furby VRS.
