Iam currently looking to purchase a Octavia vRs, so far i have heard nothing but good things. Hopefully the insurance wont be to bad as this is will be the first car i have ever owned. Right now iam considering whether to buy a new one from a dealer or second-hand from private.

Check the insurance cost before buying a car. How old are you?

How much do you know about cars? If the answer is "not a lot" I would suggest you buy either new or used from a dealer which will get you some or all of a warranty, and someone to refer to if you have a problem. Of course if you buy a car still in warranty from a private seller, you can still take it to a dealer to fix anything that crops up, but they will be less enthusiastic than if you had bought it from them.
