Trip Computer - Non Maxidot

Featured Replies

I have just changed the battery on my 2005 Octavia 2.0 TDi and found that the fuel consumption and miles per tank readings have gone haywire. The battery has previously been disconnected on a number of occasions with no problem, but this time all I have done is to upgrade from the original 72ah to a Bosch Super Silver 74ah and for the life of me I can't understand why this should make a difference. Anybody have any suggestions?

The manual says that when the battery is disconnected these will be reset.

Is that what's happened or have they gone weird?

If weird then try disconnecting the battery again for a while to reset it.

Thanks for your prompt reply, but I guess I should have been more specific! I appreciate that the readings would have been reset, however the problem is that all the mpg readings are much higher e.g. 70+ mpg for the trip on a short journey and yet the miles per tank is reading low.

I guess I could always try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery to see if it has any effect, but I am curious to see if anyone else has experienced this.

Thanks again for your help

Not sure if this apples or will resolve the issue, but I seem to recall reading about having to reset the throttle body after disconnecting the battery.

Don't ask me how or where I read it, it just stuck in my mind.

[NB: I think it only applies to petrol engines though]

OP has a 2.0TDI, so no throttle body.

I noted that, but wasn't 100% certain, so thanks for confirming that I'm barking up the wrong tree...

Thanks for the replies folks.

Mike, I have considered fitting Maxidot myself, but it appears to be quite pricey; did you find a cheaper way to do it yourself?
