How To Tune The TV?

Featured Replies

I picked my new L&K up this evening, everything is good except the TV will not tune. The dealer has a call into Skoda UK, but does anyone have any ideas while we wait? It appears to be stuck on analouge, which will obviously not work any more in the UK.

I am going to ask an obvious question. What did the instructions say?

I am trying to rember mine when I tuned it in in April. I as you have indicated put it into digital but can't remember how. I will have a look tomorrow and see if I can remember.

I know that I retuned it when I was in Scotland and also have English and Welsh station now preset in it.

I think you have to go to Set Up, Media, and according to the manual, there is the following option with a box to be ticked:

? Automatic DVB-T/Analogue switch ? - searches for the selected TV station in analogue/

digital format

I've checked the manual, both the one in the car and the latest off the web, they both talk about 'TV Search Mode' and 'Station List' buttons under the Set Up, Video menu, I have neither button. I do have the 'Automatic DVB-T/Analogue button, which I've tried in both positions without any change.

The Master Tech at the dealer has also had a poke round with the laptop without finding anything he said, hence his call into Skoda UK.

My firmware is 5218 according to the long press Setup display.

When I collected mine, the TV did not pick up any channels. I went into the set up and deleted the preset station list and it then listed the stations available, which now change according to where I am in the country. In Brecon, we have just the bare minimum of channels, but there are more if I travel to Cardiff.

I assume that the stations were preset in the Czech Republic, though I can't be sure about this.

Just an update, Skoda got back to the dealer yesterday and they want the car for a whole day. It is going in on Wednesday (snow willing) for them to 'do some checks'.

I'll update you all again after Wednesday.

I had this problem when I was in France in the summer - changed it no problem to French analogue(secam) and then had a hell of a job to get it back to digital (France uses the same system as us for digital)

can't remember what I did - but it wasn't intuitive and then I stumbled on the correct setting - I think it was country first - then digital.

Sorry I can't be more specific - think you just need to try everything!

I'm finding dvb radio reception really good as well now - used to drop-out a lot but it's ok now - Kerrang radio is ace!

I have had a poke about and found the settings for how to tell it which country you are in. It was set to UK, so I changed it to something else and then back to UK just to get it to confirm. I had a look this morning and it is now showing a list of stations, but just shows a black screen and no audio for them. I personally suspect there is a problem with the aerial, but I guess that is why they want it back. The dealer has an L&K estate in the showroom and the TV is working fine on that, so we know that area of town gets signal ok even indoors.

I mainly want it for the DVB radio myself, along with the odd bit of TV watching while waiting to pick my son up.

Well they came and collected it this morning, and brought it back this evening with the TV still not working. Apparently Skoda UK have now escalated it to the factory and are awaiting a response.

The dealer have given it a good clean and given me a MDI cable for free, but they did bring it back with the air bag warning light on so I have to call in on my way to work in the morning for them to turn it back off.

Probably because they have had the ignition turned on, while the "passenger airbag off" light in the center console was disconnected. Can be reset via VCDS or the tester in your garage in seconds :)

Yep it was exactly that, fixed before I had time to drink my coffee this morning.

It went back in today for 2 or 3 days! Got a call this evening to say the factory had been remotely connected, but that it was still not working. They have given me an Octy courtesy car this time, not sure what spec but it is not a base one.

What do people think is reasonable to ask for as compensation? This is the second time it has been back and this time they can't even tell me how long it will be.

A common goodwill gesture would be a free first service. Clearly the dealer is not technically at fault here, as the car left the factory in this state and the dealer seems to have followed all the correct steps of escalating it to the Skoda factory. But legally the retailer is responsible and not Skoda.

If you haven't already, it might be worth documenting all the visits and phone calls you've made and also put something in writing to the dealer principal about what you expect and when you want it done by. Close the letter (or email) with "In the meantime, I still retain my rights." Ultimately you could threaten to reject the car to hurry them up a bit but in any negotiation you should only threaten what you'd be prepared to go through with.

I should add that I'm hoping not to cause a big debate about the Sale of Goods Act 1979 - the above is intended as a brief outline with lots of other factors I've not covered! I hope it's of some help anyway.

Well having dropped it off Thursday I got a call yesterday to say I may as well go and pick it back up as they are waiting on a part on back order. The factory have recommended changing the wiring harness as the next logical step in fault finding, not to defiantly fix it, just as the next bit to try.

I had a chat with the sales man and the service manager to let them know I am seriously unhappy, but nothing was offered. I do feel for them as clearly they did not make the car, or QA pass it with the fault, but I am getting tired of having a top of the range car that has spent 9 days back with them in less than it's first month. Not only that, but I worried that if they take it all apart many more times clips and fixings will start to wear and the rattles will start.

I should get a call in the morning to let me know how soon this back ordered wiring harness is going to be delivered....

i was thinking of getting the se spec when buying but thought the touch screen is more to go wrong so just got the S which is fine and the swing radio does me to a tea

Well the tale of woe continues!

It went in today for the 3rd time to have the new wiring loom that was finally delivered fitted, and, still no change. :wall:

The plan now is for someone to come up from Skoda UK with a box of bits to take a look and possibly take it back to MK with them. However due to next week's Octy3 launch Skoda UK were unable to offer any dates this evening, the dealer is expecting a call tomorrow with some dates.

To say I am unhappy would be an understatement, which I'm sure I got across to the dealer just now when I picked it up. I do feel for them, as obviously they didn't build the car or let it out of the factory without a proper QA check, but at the end of the day I brought it from them.

Picked up my new Superb L & K on 1st. March. TV working perfectly. Checked firmware and HW version. HW version H09 SW versio9n 5238.

Interesting that you have a newer version of firmware, I shall re-check mine in the morning to see if it has changed while it has been back at the dealer.

Personally I would have given them 3 attempts to fix & then asked for a new replacement , and a loan vehicle while i waited.

The car does not do as advertised & 3 attempts to me is reasonable & the fact that they have replaced the wiring, would make me dubious about what else i would find a couple of months down the road.

I would actually advise the dealer & then direct all requests & pester the living daylights out of SUK to resolve the issue.( as dealer has made every effort to resolve & appears to be bending over backwards to help).

I went to fill up last night and discovered there is something blocking the fuel pipe right by the opening, I could only get the hose in about an inch. I suspect this is the side they had apart as I normally keep the spare oil in its little bag in the cubby that side of the boot and now it is velcroed to the other side.

I shall be having words Monday morning, especially as the promised phone call never came Friday...
