Featured Replies

I always dread this happening.

Anyone with the hands of a dwarf anywhere near me please, or could i borrow a baby for 10 minutes p'raps?Last time I managed to lose the spring clip that holds the bulb in place, never to be seen again.

Managed to eventually find one on a broken headlight in a bodyshop I do work for.....2 years later.

Skoda wanted to sell me a complete headlight unit!!! :moon:

Times like this I am glad my battery is in the spare wheel well. :p No more struggling for me!

I never found bulb changing hard with my fabia (or any other car for that matter).

20 years guitar playing = freakishly strong and flexible fingers

If I was local to you I'd do it for you, 5 minute job.

Well you obviously took your battery out, so do tell, just how tricky is that to do?

I've just looked at it so far, but haven't actually fathomed out how to accomplish such a task.

Battery out and it'll be an absoluite doddle.

It was fiddly but not hard

Took me 2 attempts over 2 days, much swearing, ripped knuckles and as just mentioned, the loss of the retaining clip.

Rubber exhaust thing hook did the job for 2 years.

I must be cack handed.

I never found a bulb that difficult on a fabia :)

I didn't need to take the battery out, just removed the closest part of the casing to the light to give yourself another inch to play with :giggle:

Jasons battery has been moved for better weight distribution

and is now in the boot bmw stylee. He didn't take it out just

to change a bulb lol

Yea, I remember that trick from last time. It did help, but i still found it tricky.

Hate it when others tell you just how easy it is . :moon: ;)

Yea, even this numpty werked that one out!

Just wondered if it was worth taking it out to change the bulb, but only if it's not going to take an eternity.

Better stock up on elastoplasts otherwise.

That was more for Jars benefit :) Should have quoted him in my post... I'll do it now.

You've misunderstood me dude!

I was trying to say to the op the you don't need to remove the battery to get at that bulb.

On my car I just removed the black plastic cover which gave me an extra inch of room.... I was making no reference to Jason and his battery!!

Double post!

Removing the front panel of the battery cover is what I always did.

Changed my bulbs a few times.

Decided to do it tomorrow now, mainly because it's kept Mrs Ree... (who parks by sound generally speaking)... from using it for work tonight.

Managed to fit a HID kit without removing anything, even with my sausage fingers! Fiddly but not impossible.(I am an electrician tho, not that it makes any difference!)

WOW!!

What the hell was I going on about?

Chenged it in a mind blowing record sub 3 minutes this time!!

Reckon I messed about for a total of 2 hours spread over 2 days last time.

Decided to go back to standard bulbs this time, as these higher output ones only seem to last 12 months for precious little benefit imo.

Cheaper and last 3 times longer too.
