P0236 and p0237 fault codes,any ideas?

Featured Replies

The other day I sorted my rear calliper and replaced the fuel filter. The next day the engine management light came on when the mrs used it and stayed on every time she restarted it (she went shopping and to nursery etc) but drove fine. The next day I took it out and it was on,stopped at the shop and was going to go scan it but when I restarted it the light went off. Took it for a thrash and it drove fine and light was off still. Gone out today and light is on at startup. Scanned it and got p0236 and p0237 which is turbo charger circuit A boost sensor low. Again driving fine so cleared them. Went shopping and when I started it sounded loud like the air box lid was off, drove it and when it was warm tried to accelerate and found no boost!! Pulled over and turned it off and checked the vac box and that all looks fine, restarted it and was a lot quiter and drives fine and the light never came on.

Has anyone else had this or know what it is? I tried search and google but no luck :(. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

P0236- probable causes

  • intake/exhaust leak, hose connection(s), manifole absolute pressure sensor, turbo boost pressure sensor

P0237- probable causes

  • wiring short to earth, sensors as above, engine control module

Good luck

Where abouts is the MAP sensor on these? Is it on the bulkhead like most cars? Is there any way to check thebMAP sensor or turbo boost pressure sensor? Thanks

For what is is worth I'd check the easy things first. Hoses and wiring.

Thanks will do

Mine was the wiring for the MAP sensor - code P0236

But it could be the sensor itself

On the side of the air box you can see it with a plug going into its a complete assembly, its a cylinder shaped thing,

That's the MAF.

The MAP sensor is located on the intercooler

Just to update got a MAP sensor off eBay for £21,came the next day too. Remove the drivers side wheel arch liner, undo 3 10mm bolts to drop the intercooler down and the MAP sensor is on the top held on by 2 + screws.

Car runs fine now and seems to boost smoother now although it might be my imagination???

All sorted and happy :)

That's a good result.
