CARS - Black or White Opinions people!

Featured Replies

im planning on buying a seat fr or golf gt still cant decide either way another thing i cant decide on is paintwork! white or black?

opinions and reasons why guys!

i no white is eaier to keep clean and can be a look at me look at me type of thing

black paint work looks bang on when clean but maintaining is hard! plus it would look like something out of dark knight sleaky and a beast!

ive had a black Fabia vRS i could see scratches blemishes and dust all the time! i washed it everyweek and ive never had a white car! plus im the type of guy that does like people to turn heads like the exocist when a nice car goes past, my self included haha!

I Currently have a White Fabia and a Black Octavia. To be honest I would say both are a nightmare to keep looking good ( although to be fair I am a little lackadaisical in this area  ).

There are a number of very informative threads on here about the quality of the white paint ( whether it is because it is non-metallic I don't know). Might be worth having a look at these. There does appear to be a tendency for the paint to flake and chip quite easily.

I personally think white looks great - though arguably it does appear to be the " In-colour" and I have some concerns regarding the longevity of it's popularity.

If I had to choose, I would probably go for Black again , but not sure about white.

Hope this helps a little. :)

no its helped alot! most of the people ive asked has said black! i think i might go for black i guess! i was thinking that my self ive always liked black cars but just a killer to keep neat but i guess its a trip to the car wash every week or ill use the jet wash at work!

Black! I had a black car last time around and swore I'd

never have another. Then I went to view my S3

(despite it being black it had all the other bits and bobs I wanted)

and immediately paid the man and drove it away.

It just looked so nice I couldn't help myself.

Currently spending money making it blacker still LOL

haha that sound sweet to me! im getting the 2.0 170 leon FR in BLACK. i always liked the s3 in sprint blue or black to be honnest

White cars look great now.

The wife has a white 1 series bmw looks great but a nightmare to keep clean.

White is the in colour but will it be a in 3 years time prob not.

If you are are only interested in what looks best, go white and keep if clean. If u want residuals go black u can't go wrong with black.

The leon looks good in black, white doesn't suit it as well. Me, I've got a white Octavia and a white Citigo on it's way........so I guess I like white.

White cars are just a fad!

Wouldnt own one personally. Will be uncool again in no timd

As others have said - I'd rather have black. I think white is one of those things that looks good now but will go out of fashion quite fast. I guess given enough time it might come back in again though. I'd expect that to give it better resale value too, depending on how long it's kept.

If you've time to clean it black looks great.

I had a black car once, never again.

White is getting too common now imho. It's the new silver.

If it's a new GT the colour choices are terrible. All dull.

Black is a bitch to keep clean and shows every mark and swirl on the paintwork - never again!

Black is terrible to keep clean, shows every scratch and mark in it. It does however look the dogs knackers when clean, I'd always have a black car had the choice

If you wanna be able to see the actual shape of the car with all its lines and contours then choose white. White is much more rewarding to look at IMO.

That's exactly what I said... But then I saw my Audi... DOH!

My last 3 cars were black and many more in my car owning history. I will always have black, Henry Ford told me to. I don't think black looks any worse than other colours when dirty + they are always faster.

Make the same decision as me - either white and black or black and white :D

Thats exactly why white bathroom suites are the norm. White will never go out its allways been a colour offered by all car makers.Another problem hardly mentioned is that the white is flat white when damaged easily matched, all metalic colours are a nightmare to match it usually means spraying much larger areas of the vehicle, (costly) blowing it in is very difficult to match up, for this reason i would allways buy a boring flat colour by choice.

Neither!

Black. The design of your car exposing your status.A new model will look smarter in certain colours than others in the range.Style has always taught us that black is classic. This is real on cars as well. Black cars usually get observed and are easily noticeable in sunlight, but they display dust easily and are far less recognizable in the evening or in the rainfall.

All colours come and go, 2 years ago it was black, last year it was white, this year it will be………any ones guess.

I have a white Superb estate and think it looks stunning, it really accentuates the size of the car and offsets the sunset glass nicely. My colleague has a black Superb estate and that doesn't look as good, but then I could be biased.

I've seen some truly awful black cars - swirled paint, the lot, but don't think I've seen many white ones in the same league. I really thought that my white car would be a killer to maintain but in all honesty its not that bad at all. it can quickly collect the dirt, after being clean, but then seems to get to a limit of dirt capacity and doesn't get any dirtier. tis a pain to wash though because the dirt does get in all the nooks which on any other coloured car you wouldn't notice.

Having got a black car (all previous posts about it looking the dogs and difficulties keeping it clean are true) and a white one in the past IF I only had the choice between the 2 it would be Black.

If I had other choices I'd not pick either (Which explains why I have a Blue Blackline......)

The trade used to call white the 90 day colour because it took 3 months to shift any white car off the forecourt. White is for vans, police cars and ambulances IMO

White! Without a doubt the best ! ;0)

Still looks the 'in' colour after 3 years at being the supposed 'new black'.

Good contrast with the black trim too!

Nothing more rewarding than seeing it gleam after a good clean!

I have had a bLack octavia.....brill when cleaned but gets dirty and dusty very quickly

also got a vrs octavia in white and also looks great clean but gets dirty quick but does not show swirl marks or shows the dust

but we dont clean them very often but if i had a choice it would be white again

but my nxt car will be a scout and will be metalic grey
