pid trip computer problems in asg equipped citigo

Featured Replies

i have a elegance 5dr with an asg auto box. bought for my pensioner mother and seems very suitable. however we have a problem with the trip readings,in particluar the range and consumption . they just dont register.the dealer has had the car back several times, the lastest just the last 3 days but still no success.the dealer thinks the fact my car has the asg box is the cause but i dont see why this should be relevant. has anyone else with an auto box had this problem or is this just a one off? any ideas or suggestions anyone thanks in hope!!

Interestingly enough I saw that the PID update 7.10.25 (which you can do on your home computer) mentioned something about additional support for the ASG gearbox when it listed the key update features. However it did not elaborate and I didn't take too much notice due to owning a manual box. I wonder if the new software update would resolve it?!?

Have you tried the software update ??

dealer done all that changed pid , checked connections , replaced wiring looms behind radio still no joy. the dealer will persist with the problem by referring to skoda uk technical dept. . i think the answer lies with the manufacturer. go back to the factory. they built it ,surely they can find the solution . in the meantime i'm just living with it as otherwise the car is fine.

thanks for the advice estorilblue . while the dealer had the matter in hand i didn;t want to do anything myself but now the dealer says they are stumped!!

so yesterday morning i connected the pid to the laptop and run a software update myself . took over 2 hours to update and i thought id messed up when the navigon fresh ended with an error message!! however i blundered on ( i;m no technie) and got the message to connect to my "new car".

so out i go plug the pid in and wow IT'S WORKING!

my amazment is that this update is all that was needed yet the dealer spent 2 months trying to figure this out with no success.

this dents my confidence in the dealer there technicial training and backup from SKODA.

don't think i'll return to this dealer for the services . !!!

thank goodness for forums like this and thanks again estorilblue

Glad you fixed it.

As for the dealer not being able to figure it out, it might be because the PiD is a Navigon unit so, although supplied by Skoda, they don't really get involved in its technical issues.

What they should have done is refer the problem to Navigon to start with.

That would have been the easiest option but may have given you the "not our problem mister" I'm being fobbed off feeling.

I suppose the dealer was trying their best to avoid passing the buck, as it were.

Had a similar problem on the Navigon system on my Elegance ASG. The fuel consumption at the bottom right hand corner was showing constantly as dashes and on the Navigon Status display the Engine Temp was OK but the Rev Counter was inconsistent with the instrument panel Rev Counter and only seemed to be active at low revs.

Skoda dealer suggested updating the Navigon Software, which co-incidently took about 2 hours, since when the system seems to be working ok.

My Navigon did not have the latest version of the maps so these also had to be updated and an 8 day warning that the maps discount was about to expire was given.

Are the dealers supposed to make sure the Navigon system is brought up to date as part of the Vehicle initial PID?

Regards,

Mike.

Mike, the PiD is supplied by Navigon, who would be responsible for software and map updates.

Skoda wouldn't necessarily know when the updates are released.

If the device is registered with Navigon, then you should get emails to advise of map updates.

If there are any software updates, then they have to be done before you can update the map.

The current software update addresses the ASG issues and some others so hopefully it will work as it should from now on.

Thanks for the reply CFB.

I updated to Q4/2012 maps and version 7.10.25 Software and had no problems since and to date.

The reason I asked about the Dealer bringing the system up to date is twofold. My dealer has informed me that they do update the Navigon if a car to Navigon fault is reported and they need to carry out tests of reported faults on the latest version. I have noticed on some PID postings that members have reported that the Navigon was delivered with old maps installed, in my case Q4/2011.

I understand your comment on this and it seems reasonable that Navigon should be responsible for updates through Navigon Fresh, except it appears where the updates are via Mac (see thread PID Gripes).

Regards,

Mike.

You would hope that Skoda would investigate car/PiD faults properly.

Part of that process should involve checking for updates so I would think that should be the first job.

It's probably the quickest way of determining where the fault lies, even though it does take for ever :)

Having an out of date map on delivery is no surprise. It has been the case with the three other satnavs I have bought in the past.

I suppose because they sit on the shelf for a while?

One of the first things I did after collecting the car was to register the PiD. I suspect its the same with most customers?
