Optional extra armrest

Featured Replies

My monte is comming with an optional extra armrest. (By accident)

Are the the same as the Octy where they are cooled by the aircon?

Also are they any good? Or will I be removing it?

Thanks

Well i dont think they are colled but alot of guys wish they had got it if you dont like it remove and sell it im sure ir will be snapped off your hands qucikly

No it's not cooled, design dates back to Golf IV if memory serves and used on a number of VAG models since. The rest pad forms a simple lid to a small storage compartment underneath and the rest/compartment can be adjusted for angle or stowed vertically out of the way; hope description makes sense.

Had the thing on the previous Elegance spec but it spent most of the time stowed; glad to be without it on the Monte. For us anyway it just got in the way and restricted access to the handbrake.

My take on the arrangement and I hope of help,

TP

I turned my nose up when I first saw it in mine but I gotta admit I use it a lot... Feel like a right old man! Other half agrees and just thinks it gets in the way of the hand break but you only put that on and off once really per journey... it's great when you just wanna pootle around and relax.

Don't have one in either Fabia. Test drove a Monte with one and eventually just stuck it up in the air. From a personal perspective i just felt it got in the way when changing gear/using the handbrake which with a manual car i do use. However, really wish I had one in the vRS, being DSG it doesn't interfere with the gear change, and has already been stated, you do not use the handbrake a great deal.

I use mine for hiding valuables and sunglasses. The actual sunglass holder, sadly, hardly gets used.

Great for VRS. Would be in the way for manuals eg. Hill starts.

But you can always just leave it up and put it down for longer journeys.

Great for long journeys and for hiding small items inside. Gets in the way when in traffic BUT you can get used to it.

NEVER throw in small coins or small items. If you fold it up they can get stuck in the hinge and it is a pain to take them out - you could also harm the hinge if you are not careful.

Great, Thanks for the information all!

Ordered mine with arm rest glad I did!! Handy extra storage compartment for sunglasses etc, folds nicely out the way driving around town, find it more comfortable on longer journeys!.

At the right angle i got used to changing gear with a armrest down.

Im really thinking of retrofitting one to my monte as im mostly on the motorway so would make it nice and comfy

I have the armrest in mine. I tend to use it a lot and would order one again, if you have it all the way down then there are no issues with changing gear on manual cars or using the handbrake.

I have it in mine to. I totally agree with you regarding the position. When i have it all the way down i don't think it is in the way during normal driving. I only find it to be in the way when im trying to go sideways in the snow this time of year:) but that takes quite some effort since i have esp..
