Morning all,

I have a 2001 1.9tdi 4x4 Octavia estate.

It now has 100,000 miles on the clock.

What do you expect the mileage life of the engine to be, it is mainly

motorway miles ?

I am debating the economics of running it until the engine dies and then putting a new/second hand engine in, or trading it in at about 150k miles

for something else ?

If you can afford to sell it for next to nothing in several years time, then keep it. That engine will go on and on and on and on and on and... ariston... (force of habit)

In October 04 the main dealer had a hatch 1.9tdi in for a service. It was a taxi and had covered 401,000 miles in just over 4 years. Apparently bugger all had gone wrong with it because the owner kept to the service schedule. Very impressive, but I still went for the Octy VRS!!!!!
