EGR Valve - It this a common fault

Featured Replies

So the cooler is in a daft place fine, but is the actual EGR part of that now?

If so, then I'd be straight after a delete pipe and mapping it out.

That's just stupid.

Yes it is.

It cools the exhaust gassess going into the engine. This also means the engine can warm up slightly quicker as the coolant absorbs the heat from the gassess.

Agreed it is a very stupid design to have it so inaccesible!

The PD has an EGR cooler at the back and the EGR valve in the intake path to the manifold. The EGR thing is easy enough to get off and clean.

And the cooler is a PITA, hence why mine still hasn't been removed. It is the re-plumbing that is putting me off doing it :-)

Just get your best mate (mechanic) to do it and buy him a few pints :wonder: :wonder:

It'll be off at the next service, which is 900 miles or 379 days away apparently.
