Hands free kit gone haywire?

Featured Replies

Bit of a difficult one this as I guess it's an electrical / 3rd party problem but just wondered if this might be some common Octavia issue.

My car is fitted with a Sony Ericsson HCB-30 hands free kit. It was already fitted to a used car I bought from a Skoda main dealer. It's been working fine up until about 1 month ago when I noticed it was no longer paired to my phone. I also discovered, subsequently that I'm unable to re-pair it or actually do anything with it as it's gone a bit haywire. However I only noticed the other day upon walking back to the car that the little control panel for it which lives down by the gearstick was all lit up - despite me having not unlocked the car.

Just wondered if there could be anything wrong with the car itself, or whether this is (more) likely to be the fault of the hands free kit. I think I know the answer but am just a bit irked that this will mean having to get something fixed outside of warranty - and dealing with unknown vehicle electricians :(

Thanks.
