slight boost problem?

Featured Replies

i do hope someone can help me here??

sometime ie once every few days i go to accelerate and the car just bogs down and will not rev at all, it will be like this for about 5 minutes then all of a sudden it goes back to normal.

I had the car checked over at Midland VW and it was showing that the MAF was not 100% so replaced that with a new genuine one from the dealers, and that did not cure it.

I have also fitted a new revised DV valve, and did a quick check of the PCV by undoing the oil filler cap, the engine bogged down when i removed it so i was told if it did that the PCV valve was good?? i also had a smoke test done which sshowed no boost leaks.

So any ideas please guys.

Thanks

Karl

What engine?

Is it remapped?

  • Author

oh yeh i forget to mention its a TFSI, and yes it has been remapped.

Coil packs? Intake manifold flap?

Did you get it scanned with vcds?

  • Author

Yeah Rob had it scanned with vcds and only the maf not working 100% showed up.

What was the fault code on the maf? Reading too high?

  • Author

It was going up to 170ish on vcds then shooting down to 130 at about 4000 rpm.

I know it's been checked but it might be an overboost condition due to a leak after the turbo. The fault code from the MAF would be helpful.

update.

Had the guy who did the remap come and look at the car today, with he's map on its showing 1.1bar, but then for no reason at all the shooting down to 0.6bar, the car was logged and the only thing he noticed was a fault saying bank 1 running lean??

I have fitted the following items since he did the remap to try and fix it myself.

1, new standard plugs.

2, new revised DV.

3, new autotech cold air feed.

4, new BSH PCV fix.

also with he's map on it showed 225bhp max, he normaly gets approx 240bhp from out of these, and with the map off its only reaching 185bhp

any ideas guys.

yeh change the map!!

If its got a MAF fault then I'd look at that?

  • Author

Well its got a brand new MAF fitted Rob, so i don't think its that?

sticky charge control?

Not sure which part it is, but I think it's part of the turbo (i.e. not a separate serviceable item). I had something not too disimilar on my last vRS but it was throwing a P0299 code.

I love fixing these kind of faults :D
