In the garage having new spark plugs fitted....

Featured Replies

Did I make a mistake fitting NGK 8's ? Or has my car finally become one of the 'vRS misfire casualties' ?!

I'll let you know :)

There's a vRS in here (lillyhall) having a new engine ! :o anyone on here ?

Oh-oh!

Hope it's nothing serious!

Phil

Hope not!

I think you might have treated it to well the other night in work! Hope you get it sorted mate.

7s are best if unmapped or stage 1. 8s and 9s for stage 2 and beyond.

this is what I'm thinking, they were fine in the hot weather ripping arount the nordshleife! but its pretty cold now.. and I booted it before it was warm... maybe I went too high a temp range... (I had just filled up after a night shift, I also cant be SURE I didnt put 95 RON fuel in :(

just had a set of VW laser-platignum plugs (genuine replacement) 03C 905 601 A put in, and ripped it around with no issues at all! (Thank God!)

here are the plugs that came out.. they look fine, I just dont think I'm getting them hot enough ;) (in the new VW packaging)

oh and thanks to lillyhall skoda for not charging me for the diagnostic or fitting the new plugs (I did pay for the VW genuine ones) AND for getting me in short notice :)

Iv noticed with 7s on cold mornings it seems to miss abit untill the car is warm, that what you experianced?

That's interesting to know and does make sense. Shame it's another hassle with these cars. Was tempted to switch to them come the next service but I'm not sure now

I didn't get any warning lights OR 3 cylinder running... I just rushed to change the plugs for safetys sake!

it has been a little more rough with the new plugs than before, but only on cold startup.. I was booting it, and it missed between 5-7k ...

maybe try 7's ? I got the 8's but didn't realise they were a "stage too far" lol...

Did it log a misfire? Ecu should tell you anyway.

their diagnostic said "multiple misfires" but (unlike alot of others with misfire probs) it didn't throw the exhaust warning light, and didn't run on three cylinders at any time, just under high revs( like Sy's car)
