1.2 TSI 105ps engine - what fuel

Featured Replies

I cant get my head around what fuel my wife should be using in her new TSI 105 Monte .

The various places I have visited online say "unleaded"

The sticker on the fuel flap says MINIMUM 95 RON ( ie unleaded ) in large print

The sticker underneath it says superunleaded.

Give me a clue.

Unleaded or Super ?

95 is fine mate, if you can stretch to it give it super. You will get more miles to a tank and the engine will run better at higher rpm.

I run my vrs on super and have done since I collected it. Works out £3 - £5 per tank extra

Use super. As ad says may cost fiver a tank more but you get fivers more miles and the bonus of better quality fuel.

The cost of the fuel isnt really an issue - I would rather pay £5 extra per tank with the knowledge that it is the correct fuel.

The correct fuel is Minimum 95 RON and that is what is sold in the UK.

Unleaded, Fuel Saver etc in the pumps.

Other countries might have only 92 RON etc.

& the Sticker on the car might use the Term Super Unleaded in reference to other non UK Fuel.

Does it mention 98 RON on the Sticker or in the Owners Hand Book..

See if 'Sainsbury 97 RON Super Unleaded'

or 'Shell V Power 99 ron',

'Tesco Momentum 99',

BP, ESSO etc Super Unleaded makes a difference to your car.

95 RON Standard UK petrol from anyplace will be just fine if you can not see any performance of economy gains for the extra 5 - 10 pence a litre using Super Unleaded with the 1.2 TSi.

In a manual you will notice little difference other than slightly better economy as you will drive to compensate for marginally less or more power without thinking about it. I had the DSG and found it ran significantly better on super. The hesitation that was widely reported was greatly reduced and a smoother pick up was evident. I would recommend super fuel for that and reportedly better detergent packages
