Yeti Tuning

Featured Replies

Just curious that's all to see what people are doing. I know Richard had mapped his 170 to 200bhp but what about the 1.8 TSI? Anyone done anything to the suspension?

I believe the Ko4 conversion has been done on 1.8tsi.

Shark did one not long ago ;)

Oh really? That's interesting. Just curious that's all. After seeing how well one goes on track and how everyone raves about them it could be an option in the future. What sort of power did they get it of it? Presumably any tuning that works for the Mk1 Octy vRS works for this?

With literally just the kit fitted and no additional hardware, it's just over 300bhp and 300lb/ft torque on Sharks tight fisted rollers. It goes back in February for a Stage 2 upgrade and a few other bits. It's an exceptionally capable vehicle and puts the power down effectively in even the harshest of driving conditions. :-)

Sounds very interesting! Thought I hadn't imagined your signature.

I think a stage 2 1.8Tsi is going to be quite special.

If my diesel 170 can keep up with stock Fabia and Octy vRS cars once it's had a remap on track due to the handling balance and traction the Haldex 4 gives Yeti_Man's car is going to be rather a lot of fun.

You need to bring it on the Briksy How Fast? day BTW Yeti_Man.

1st June.

I just pipped then all last year in the diesel with favourable weather and a bit of bravery. :D

You may need to think about an oil cooler though, on track I can get mine a bit hot in about 4 laps. :(

I did speak to Pace regarding the cooler (and a rad upgrade) but they thought the options were very limited. I will be relooking at it soon though with a different company hopefully. Mine has climbed to 125 degrees when pushing it abroad - personally I think the 1.8tsi is packed rather tightly into the Yeti's engine bay and am very wary of possible cooling issues.

What's in the kit?

Not much more than a machined turbo and the relevant gaskets and software afaik

Did you had any problems with your insurer... and what effect did it have on your premiums?

No, but I've always used specialists for my modified cars as they understand them a lot better. Try a few of the sponsors on here for starters. Costs were within 5% of what I paid previously with Skoda insurance but I have a clean licence with a no claim history in a good area. :-)

Thanks for that, a surprisingly modest increase in premium, though as you say, going to a specialist makes sense.
