DIY Decat Fitting?

Featured Replies

Can this be done by yourself?

Ive just purchased a decat for my mk1 fabia vrs

The guy that normally does all my exhaust work will be away for a while so was wanting to do it myself.

Is it going to be a simple spanners and penitrating fluid job or is there alot more work involved?

Any tips and things to look out for would be appreciated!

Will hopefully have time to do it in a few days if the snow holds off

Penetrating fluids?

Assuming your decat pipe has a flange on the end of it to meet the rest of your exhaust, then all you need to do is jack the car up and ideally put it on axle stands, unbolt old downpipe from rest of exhaust, then take off the 3 nuts on the turbo, old pipe off, new gasket in then new downpipe in and bolt everything back together and tighten

Easy, but fiddly. 3 bolts onto the turbo, then the connection onto the cat back. I rememebr one of the 3 bolts being fiddly, but apart from that was pretty easy.

Why's that? I've known of a fabia on here that had a similar set up and it seemed fine to me

I've got a straight through, think they sound crap tbh, that's IMO if course. The idle / turbo whistle is awful.

Nah I liked it! Had the cat back in for a few weeks now and that's fine. Decat will bring it upto the same sound as the other fabia which I liked the sound of

All my mates like mine too I just explain to them that they don't have to live with it ;)

Be sure to stick to some vids - it will be really loud!

Your the reason I got my straight through ;) yours sounded nice from Ye vid you posted but I'm just not to keen on mine. The turbo whistle at idle is just so loud, have a look at my videos and tell me how it compares to yours mate

Oh right thats good to know pal :)

It wasnt an amazing video either that

My mate drove my car away from me the other day and gave it some toe and i actually laughed like a little girl buzzin off the sound it made. Proper loud chat through the gears. Going to get a good video with camera stuck to the rear bumber or windscreen so can properly hear it
