Metro Vac Air Force Blaster

Featured Replies

Just seen this device on `Polishedbless.co.uk.

It looks a nice bit-o-kit, but costs £200.00 so before I consider purchase, I was wondering whether any of you chaps had a personal experience of it...good, bad or indifferent?

Many Thanks.

Mike.

This is something that we use regularly and while it's a good bit of kit I am not too sure why you personally would need in Mike unless your 'detailing regularly'?

It's a great bit of kit for completely y drying the car's door shuts, boot shuts, engine bay, wheels and wing mirror's before polishing but I would struggle to justify it's application for something else?

Well...the area in which I live has very hard water. I struggle to get the car dried before the dreaded water marks set in. I am new to this detailing lark and have learnt a great deal using this forum (mainly from yourself and ChrisRs). I have purchased a good number of products including the `Wooly Mammoth` drying towel...but this machine seems even better than that. I note in your rely you do not mention drying the `Whole` car, just the door shuts etc. So maybe its not for me after all. I'm just looking for any negatives really `Baker`.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply.

Regards.

If your struggling from hard water then your money would be better off investing in an inline filter or buy a water butt and use the natural rain water to wash your motor with........;)

We use one of these, which is a great piece of kit:

Are you using Megs Last Touch to act as a drying aid when your drying your car? If not, invest in some of this and apply while the car is wet, before drying and dry with the Wooly Mamouth drying towel to leave a streak free finish:

The 'vac' is good but I wouldn't recommend using it to dry the whole car, you will be there for hours.........:(

I personally would only use such a device before machine polishing.......:)

Keep an eye on ebay for an AEOLUS dryer far cheaper, although some are daft prices just now.

Yeah, I do use a drying aid (either AG Aqua Wax or a different QD).

I have considered one of those water filter devices, but being as the water is so hard here I worked out that the repeated need for replacement filters would be cost prohibitive.

Following you kind and detailed advice, I think I will forget the `Vac`, I dont think its for me after all.

Once again...Many Thanks `Baker`.

If hard water is your main concern then I would try Megs Last Touch and dilute it to suit your requirements............ :)

Thanks, `Baker`. I'll get some when my current stock runs out.

As Simon says Mike...A QD applied before drying is your best remedy from spotting in hard water areas

Apologies if you've already bought a Metro Vac....

Why buy a Metro Air Blaster when you can get this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2800W-Dog-Pet-Grooming-Hair-Dryer-Hairdryer-Heater-Blaster-2-Colour-/320977760467

Exactly the same product as this:

http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/metro-vac-air-force-blaster-cat5.html

I use this a lot...Its superb for drying wheels and door shuts...How did I manage without it!!!

Megs LT for me - spray over car before drying then dry as normal with towel.

As good as Meguiars Final Touch is......That's a QD not an air blaster/dryer

Nor does it get water and moisture out of nooks and crannies like a heavy blast of air does

I swore that this next month I wouldn't spend anymore money on detailing..........................

Cheers Chris,

Just what I need :D

Is it 12 volt?

edit: seen that it's not

Totally agree Chris but Mike's second post goes on to describe hard water and water marks and he is struggling to get the car dried before water marks set in. LT will assist in preventing this.

The air blaster / dryer will get the water out of the door shuts etc. We've all been there - start to apply polish, sealant or wax and you catch some water trapped in a door rubber or window surround.

No..... 240v

Features:

- A Powerful 2800W hair dryer for pets’ quick and effective drying, especially for dogs.

- Maximum control over air flow (increases or decreases the air flow)

- High speed stream of air offers greater volume of warm air to dry dogs fur in just a few minutes.

- 2 temperature settings: Normal and Warm, 35°C to 70°C

-2 Wind speed, 25M/S to 50M/S

-Low noise only 60dB at full power.

-3 different-shaped nozzles, ideal for all applications.

You will wonder how you managed without one....Honest

I know ...but that was long time ago now Coops...almost a year ago in fact

I resurrected this thread as I was recommending the Air Blaster NOT a QD

Sorry Chris, my fault - read the date but not the year

In terms of an air blaster/dryer - that one is excellent value.

Another +1 for the cheap "pet grooming" dryer option from eBay. Great little item for the money and great addition to the detailing kit!

In saying that - i still use a Last Touch diluted mix for pre-drying main panels with drying towel method as well.

We all have out own methods.

Sjarnagloss Glaspro Hyperbeader takes some beating at a drying aid/QD....Alan and I used it (Run out now)

The daddy is Sonax QD though.....works best on Sealer of course as its a QS rather than a QD

Apply and I never need to use as a drying aid, the beading is unbelievable!!

We all have out own methods.

Indeed we do..... everyone has their routine...tried and tested to some degree.

I'll review again when the bottle is empty.  :D

I genuinely believe that everyone should own a bottle of this stuff, does everything Chris said above, and as if that wasn't enough it smells like Hawaiian Tropic Sun Oil too :D

I can see this is very popular. Is it any good applied to a wet car as a drying aid? I currently use AG Rapid Detailer.

Many thanks.

IME less good at this, the product is a bit thicker consistency than a traditional QD and doesn't have that ultra slick feel either so for me doesn't really work as well as some do as a drying aid, that said I have done this and found it doesn't impede the level of protection, it just feels a bit grabbier than with others.  After application the car doesn't to me feel all that slick either but this is part of the reason I think it's particular coating gives a great "lotus effect".

The Sonax Xtreme BSD as Chris hinted above is in some ways closer to an easy use Spray Sealant like a CarPro Reload although they call it a QD, so it is slightly distinct in it's use and feel.

But genuinely it protects and lasts like no other QD.

There's a thread up on DW with BSD being actually quite difficult to remove using neat APC. (referring to it being durable, not hard to buff btw)

Many thanks for this `Sparkly.

I think I'll stick with the AG RD as it works fine for me.

Regards

Mike.
