I would just like to pick your brains if I may.

The time has come to part with my 54 plate 1.9tdi. I have owned it from new and covered 126,000 trouble free miles. In all of its life it has only ever had a battery/alternator(the pulley fell off),discs/pads and tyres. This is the most reliable and economical car I have ever owned and far better then the Audi a4 I had before it.

The question is- What sort of price range do I advertise it for.

Sensible advice please,even though I know you have little info to work with. I shall of course put it on Briskoda first.

Values vary slightly depending on where you are in the country, but after a quick look on Autotrader, £2800 seems to be about the value for a private sale.

But as it's an Elegance (so not so common) you may get more than the going rate if there are not many other Elegance's for sale in your area.

This is a dealer price on a 12 month younger car.

I'd be hoping for £3,000 to £3,500 for a private sale depending on condition and service history...

I'm assuming he has a hatchback.

If it's an estate it'll be worth a few hundred more than I suggested.

Hi Guys, Thanks for the replies up to now. To confirm, it is a hatchback,metallic black,fsh and in vgc for year etc.

It's got a lot going for it.

It's a good colour and an Elegance, one owner.....you should have no trouble selling it privately.
