... For sakes sake

No fix yet as waiting to do mileage on consumption test so it can be measured.

Love the car despite using more oil than previous cars and how useless it is in the snow :)

Value for money and oomph is great :)

I assume that the poll is for Mk2 VRS owners who have a drinking problem? :)

Sorry peeps, it's seems you can't edit a poll on mobile version without it being deleted :(

ive ticked " had new engine" although that isnt strictly true as it was just pistons after suffered a cracked piston landing, which rom what i gather seems to be the common cause for these engine replacements.

YOu should have another option "would not buy another". I wouldnt buy another Fabia vRS and i also wouldnt recommend one to anyone either. Still have mine and will be keeping it for a while longer. Mines very good for what it is.

No problems as such yet but I can't tick No Issues either. Still love the car even though it did 16mpg sitting in a hour's worth of traffic this morning. Would I buy another one? Probably not since I want more power next time and maybe a non-Skoda altogether. Could I recommend one? Provided they knew about any possible issues then yes but to the majority then I'd have to say no. I'd never hear the end of it if I recommended it to a family member and it went wrong.

As it goes I never recommend cars to people anymore. Not worth the hassle if they buy and then turns out they don't like it. You buy a car for yourself and no-one else.

You know, something that could have added to the cause is the different tuners that have manhandled your engine aswell (thinking about those who requested boost way over what the turbo was capable off producing for ones) ;).

Ive already mentioned in my thread that what shark did with the car could have brought this on, but my piston failure also matches the other piston failures, so i guess it would have happened anyway whether mapped or not, but maybe it would have lasted abit longer before it changed.

I've not bitched about it though, or played the blame game, i just bought better pistons and we carried on, so id be fairly certain my car is now alot stronger than before, but even so i still woulsnt

The pistons are the least of the problems with this car. Spark plugs, heat, oil usage, misfires, rattles like hell etc etc. As said before. my car is great the way i have it set up and performs awesome, but no way at all would i buy another.

i don't own a vrs,

but one thing i find interesting is the fact only just over 40% would buy another mk II vrs

question is how represenative is the poll, i suspect the percentage of people who have had issues is higher than the percentage who have had no problem taking the pole so could be seen as biased

and also until the pole reaches probably around 100 +voted then single votes have to much influence on percentages

but the 2:1 ratio of problem free : engine issues is lower than i would have expected after reading the threads on here

We had the breather mod, I have been back for the oil usage test and Skoda said the car is ok and within tolerance now, so, since the oil consumption test I have not lifted the bonnet, not dipped the oil and not bothered my arse to worry either. The car is two years old in March and it is under warranty.

As for the poll, I still like the car (love is a bit too strong a word) and I would buy another.

So on Saturday 8th Feb the oil will be checked and topped up if necessary and on the 9th Feb the Fabia will be taken to Oulton Park and have it nuts thrashed around for a few laps! Should be good fun.

Some good info though so far;

1. 31 responses

2. 19 with no issues

3. 3 with breather mods which have gone no further (at present) and 4 that progressed to engine replacements

4. 9 engine replacements

If i have crunched the numbers correctly :) Personally, it is the number of engine replacements that worries me, granted this is just a small survey to date (as stated elsewhere) but it doesn't make for particularly good reading.

Shall be interesting when i speak to Skoda UK re the extension to my warranty. At present Skoda have agreed to increase it from three years to four which is quite good of them as they are not obliged to do anything, but they have left the mileage cap at 60000 miles :( which i am a little disappointed at.

I should think it will not be difficult to get in writting that it is 60,000 miles on the Car and components,

normally covered under the Warranty.

& 30,000 on the new engine.

The Engine will be a whole other matter if a New Replacement.

It needs its suggested 3000 km of possible higher oil usage from new,

then 10,000 mile servicing.

30,000 mile warranty would be the minimum i would push for on a car in its last year of warranty,

that is from the Mileage at the time of replacement,

The service book needs Written up as replacement engine & start of Service Record.

Nothing to VAG/SKODA if they know there engines are good. They should have no Engine claims after replacements.
