Service please?

Featured Replies

I have a 2011 fabia 1.2 tsi with 15000 miles. The question i need answered is.. at 10000 miles, it got what the dealer called a lube service which was an oil change and an oil filter renewal only, does this count as the first service (minor service) or is the first service still to come at 20000 miles? Could somebody please explain to me the service intervals for my car? Cheers :)

The 20,000 or 2 year service will be an, 'Inspection Service', which is again just Oil & Filter and checking things, fluids, tyres, brake pads etc.

Possibly or probably not the rear wheels coming off and the brake drums, and a check.

Body work inspected and all on the Computer, & a Check list.

First service maybe £85- £100 & Second maybe from £150-£200.

How much was the bill for your first service?

You need to check what is getting done at 2 years, Pollen Filter, plugs etc will need to be checked sometime, but maybe it will be at 3 years, and brake fluid changed.

not sure how much it was cause it was done about a month before i got the car, i have been quoted £185 for the 20000 mile service thats without pollen, plugs or brake fluid change, a bit dear i think ..!!!

You could top up your own Washer bottle, & tell them not to.

Save £4 maybe. (they might tell you, you invalidate your warranty if you use the wrong stuff. That is not true)

Question them on an Environmental charge & ask them how much it costs them to dispose of your oil & filter.

(if they waive that little con, that might be another £4-6 off.)

Question how many hours the Service takes,

is it 1 or 1.5 hours,

& question the Parts prices, Oil, Filter & Plug.

The price is what they ask for and get away with, plus 20% VAT

just always ask the details & costs are accurately invoiced.

My vrs has longlife oil . I thought it should be changed every 20,000. When I had the Octavia vrs it used the same oil and had a 20,000 service interval.

They come from the Factory with Long Life Oil and may get Long Life Oil used at a service,

but it mattered if they had the Code for Fixed or Variable servicing.

The first vRS's had a Fixed Service Code and that was changed last year by Skoda and the Service book shows the Variable service code and that might show on the cars Maxi.
