Audience- Stream MP3 swap

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have 05 mk2 Octavia with a audience head unit. Have purchased a 2nd hand Stream mp3 (with code) and plan to swap this weeked. At a glance the actual units seem the same size/ shape etc so no new surround needed hopefully. But just wondered if i am likely to need to swap any wiring over in the rear?

Thanks very much

Fingers crossed its just plug and play Stu. If you need a surround, I've got the original one I took out when I replaced my head unit.

Just curious, why do you want to swap. The stream, even in MP3 version is inferior to the Audience. You'll have no CD changer, and if you have the external sound system upgrade the stream cannot drive this.

Thanks for the offer John, shall bear in mind.

Mannyo, nothing more than being able to connect a aux supply and also i have some dead lines on my display. Not too much of a music buff to probably even notice much differance, but do want to be able to plug my ipod & iphone in at a reasonable cost.

Fitted just as suggested, a direct one for one.

Only took 5 minutes to change over if that and i purchased a after market aux cable as linked below

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-AUX-IN-IPOD-MP3-FABIA-OCTAVIA-ROOMSTER-SUPERB-YETI-BOLERO-STREAM-2M-CABLE-/130842097141?

Which fitted perfectly and works as hoped. Does not allow for any adjustments via the head unit, but the iphone has shuffle etc, so more than enough for me.

Guess the only issue i had was when the security code request came up i pressed the wrong buttons and it went into safe mode. No probs, just leave the stereo turned on and key in the ignition for one hour. This then takes it back to the code entry page again, all sorted.

My Stream MP3 works with the CD changer just fine.

Also handy having the AUX socket in the arm rest too.

Perhaps I should have worded differently, with the Audience headunit there is no CD changer since its integral in the main headunit. Hence you remove the Audience and you have no CD changer.

Ah of course.

He's going from the Audience (with no boot changer) to the Stream (which would normally come with boot changer).

I guess with having an iPod/iPhone most the music will be on there... a lot of my CDs are old as I buy most music digitally these days.

You could if you wanted get an iPod adapter that uses the CD changer connection and be able to control the iPhone from the stereo and charge it at the same time.
